The season dating has been going on for a bit now.

Does the Holy Fuckballs series utilize the original Treehouse yeast profile or the new proprietary yeast blend?

    Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

Mosaic is such a great hop.

I’m pretty sure all JP related beers use the same yeast.

I know. I was trying to make a joke and, apparently, failing miserably.

Fwiw, their response to me was that they do it to beers than can get better as time progresses.

Also, I think it was Big Bear, but earlier this year I bought a can stamped Spring while it was still winter.

I reviewed a can of Double Shot on 02/10/23, a can of Space & Time Vanilla Bean on 02/15/23, and a can of Heavenly sometime in early March... all date stamped 'Spring 2023.'

Pizza opened yesterday in Tewksbury. Thought it was excellent -- I tend to favor the New Haven style pizza that has a thinner crust, and this was kind of similar to that. Had the pepperoni and cheese.

I think it's just Monday through Wednesday for now until they ramp up. Thought the $20-$22 price on it was a good value compared to other places in the area.

Any recommendations on the new yeast beers , I didn’t have any of the data set beers. I’m heading to Tewksbury this weekend and plan to grab a 4pk of atleast one of them

Meh. How can sub 9% milk stouts with multiple adjuncts get better with age? Not to mention a lager. Sounds like some BS

Name brand premium products do usually appreciate in value regardless of quality or craftsmanship.

Old take but if you put out green beer and expect the consumer to warehouse the product for you until it's ready then you're a grifter and the consumer is a fool.

Completely off subject but you never see someone write out or use the word “Grifter” But it’s also a top two all time Overcsst songs for me. 7 inch version. Post made my day

yea that reason is BS, but I also don’t have a problem with them suggesting some beers are good for 3-4+ months and there’s no reason not to just come out and say that.

I’d really like to find people in the Waltham/Belmont/Watertown/Newton area who’d like to split 4 packs from Tree House. If you’re in those areas I’d probably even deliver to you. I always want to go get beer but more often than not I decide against it because I don’t want 36
-48 beers in my fridge that are redundant.

Or if you aren’t local to me & just want to meet up there to split 4 packs I’m down. Both save some $ and hassle. I usually go around 12-1 weekdays to pickup from Tewksbury.

It would be great if it was a semi-regular thing.

I have no problem with the seasonal can dating on those styles. Its only a 3 month window. A lager can definitely get better with time. Even a dry hopped one. 3 months is honestly the window I would want to taste that style in as it progresses. I.e. one fresh, one at a month, one at two, and one at three. Maybe a heavily adjuncted stout will fade a bit, but I think 3 months is a fair timeframe.

If you're wondering about treehouse beers holding up or developing in the can. I just cracked a 7/4 batch of Julius on 8/1 and its tasting the best it has since I got it. Nate was right about it hitting the sweet spot at 3 weeks. Overall this batch of Julius is on par for a super solid batch - great stuff.

The 7/4 batch of green, which I think is a slightly below par batch overall, is getting better with time. Also just cracked one on 8/1 and it's tasting the best it has since I got it. Its not a bad batch by any means - its like 95% of the way there. It doesn't help that the previous green I picked up was a 110% batch - an absolute thick tangerine sorbet and jack fruit bomb.

Also the batch of Sap from that same timeframe (forget the exact date right now, maybe late late June) is fire AF.

Oh and Eureka with Mosaic was so awesome. Note to self: don't just buy one 4-pack of eureka next time. Was my wifes favorite also, so that was gone in a week. Its honestly incredible you can get that beer for like $13 a pack. I mean what a steal!

Less than 1 month in the can is no where near the length of time you would need to see if something has aged out or fallen off. Their IPAs are good months later. The point was, they know their customer base is obsessed with freshness and dates, and they push that narrative (since day 1). Every can says "Drink Fresh". I don't think Nate has ever said wait 3 weeks to drink something. Even under the bottle caps it says "What are you waiting for?". The only times I ever remember reading anything about aging a beer, is with the barleywines, and with the porter 'Abstraction' back in 2018. I'm sure there's more, but I don't think he's ever said to let an IPA sit for weeks. He's said they'll hold up fine for a while, which is true.
