Surly just announced their new Brand Calendar for 2023 . Not too many surprises overall , I think with the THC Take Five lineup its reduced the beer lineup variety somewhat but they have gone from 9 year round beers to 12 beers .

*Mosh Pit will be in 12 packs .
*Before I Die lager is year round now & Lemonade refreshing are new to the year round lineup.

Looks like they are going with one variety pack year round so no more taproom exclusives landing in variety packs which is a shame .

Great to see Coffee Bender remains in the lineup, wish that was in 12 packs .

Per Surly Beer website - Before I Die wasn’t even a blip on the Surly radar this time last year. There are at least two beers not listed below that we’re stoked about rolling out to bars and liquor stores in the coming months. Still, this is our roadmap for 2023.

Overall looks not bad. Basically a bigger (but simpler) version of their 2022 lineup. While it's sad to see the variety packs go, I did find the exclusives in the last 1.5-2 years to be pretty mediocre, and lopsided with too many high ABV IPAs.

Glad to see One Man Mosh Pit making a comeback, which IMO was way better than Drips and Drops. Before I Die was an unexpected surprise this year, and I've really come to like Logic Bomb as well.

I am amazed with how well Before I Die has sold. I thought it would be a slow seller, but it flies off the shelves.

I have to wonder what Seventeen will be? Sixteen wasn't bad at all.

Happy to see Double Furious returning as that was one of my favorite beers last year! Certainly not what I expected when I first heard about it.

I almost pulled the trigger on Before I die the other day...is it brewed as a traditional lager or more of a hopped up IPL?

To be honest, I do not know. I haven't had it yet.

Hopefully less mediocre 6-pack level hazies. Surly doesn't seem to have much stylistic personality at this point, just following easy trends with mediocre results.

Yes it does, and it has been easy to get the past couple of years.

Should be able to find it anywhere that sells beer in the area. A deli in Victoria even has it on their shelf. No one cares about it anymore.

I can't disagree with you more, it's still a fine beer & the 16 oz format makes it even more appealing!
Now if they would just go to 12 or even 10 oz cans: "I'm as happy as a little girl"...Dieter

Have they announced what the two Darkness variant collabs are that are being released on Darkness Day?

Meh, now if they just aged it in the different bourbon barrels, not add all the extra shit, then I might care.

I would definitely care if it wasn't $50 for each variant. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I had it at the brewery during Nathaniel Rateliff the other week. I liked it enough to pick up a case on sale. It's a good traditional lager. Just a hint of sweetness with a bready backbone. They describe it as crisp and crushable and I would agree.

Certainly better and truer to style than Hell, imo. Not sure if it's good enough to turn me away from Colorado Kool-aid. Mostly due to price and when Coors gets it right, their banana bread is tops. Again, imo. But Before I Die is a welcome addition to my lager rotation.
