Nice! I also have some new bottles coming my way, but I finished my last bottle of Sucaba a while ago so I will have to compare based on my crappy memory.

The garbage cookie barleywine reminds me that I had a pecan pie barleywine a bit ago out of a mix of curiosity and limited barleywine options. After 3-4 nights the remaining majority that I couldn’t force down my boozehole went down the drain. It’s really rare I can’t finish a thing. That itch is scratched for a while.

But tonight has fuckall to do with that. Following one of those double two hearted pints with this throatboner:

2 year. Not gonna compare it to the other years. Today was a good and exhausting day, physically draining exercise and with highs and lows in dealing with work, pets, and kid shit. And this fella right now is what the doctor ordered for a vegetable and pocketed for just this kind of night. Like I’ve had some solid random beers lately where I go, yeah, this is bright and pops etc., but this guy has me joy-punching nearby ghosts. Move if you don’t like it, stupid ghost, you saw what I was pouring.

Hey @Beersnake1 @CarolinaCardinals the CEO assures me that she told me have plans this weekend (she probably did:rolling_eyes:) so I'll catch up Sunday or Monday with you guys on Patience. I won't read your notes till I've had mine. Enjoy!

Enjoying an English BW from Burial this afternoon, Virtue of Patience.

Let this set at room temperature for an hour before opening.

Nose is very nice, upon pouring notes of bourbon and dark fruits were very prominent.

Taste was very nice as well. The large malt base gave notes of dates and plums with brown sugar and toffee. The sleep in the barrel intones a light bourbon warming with a slight vanilla accent. Finishes a touch sweet but the barrel does a fine job balancing this.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall a dangerously drinkable English Barleywine, glad i was able to try! I wish Burial would devote more cooperage to Barleywines! Rated 4.3
    Cheers!
    Tom

Our CEO's like to remind us that we can remember minute details about the beers we had 20 years ago but we fail to pay attention to what is front and center today...hopefully you did not catch to much heat @DIM !
    Cheers!

Awesome, glad you enjoyed Tomas! Looks like you got to sample the Sucaba Alpha and Omega versions!
The 2012 version got me thinking as to when FW changed the named to Sucaba from Abacus. My Access DB shows i had one 2011 Abacus (consumed 12-2-2012) and Sucaba 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019 vintages. More interesting is that Abacus does not show up in the FW roster of Beers. Curious to see if any other BW fans and @Todd recall the lineage of Abacus/Sucaba.
    Cheers!
    Tom

Virtue of Patience from Burial. A bourbon barrel-aged barleywine. Comes in at 13% ABV. A huge thanks to Tom (@CarolinaCardinals ) for sending this one! Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice slightly murky dark brown with little head. The nose is brown sugar, molasses, Werther's caramel candy, vanilla. Stunning.

The taste is incredible. Werther's candy screams out from this one. I'm actually shocked how much this tastes like this. Getting notes of sweet bourbon, figs, plums, vanilla, slight boozy note, and brown sugar. Sweet, but not cloying. Just a really awesome caramel bomb and I LOVE it.

@CarolinaCardinals - sounds like our assessments are pretty similar! What an easy-drinking beer! Dangerously smooth!

Totally missed this but I was able to pick up 2 bottles on Tavour! Out of curiosity, how much did they cost directly from the brewery?
