Modern Brewery in a new location, building out a great looking patio. They brew a little bit of everything but IMO they're an IPA place. Decent kettle sours also. King's Oak is the name of the on site restaurant and everything is really good. As is brunch on Sundays. Birria fries are our go to. * Cocktails available. ** Guest taps always interesting. Website not up to date but they had Hop Butcher last time we were there. Beef Dipped!!!

Civil Life has a new, huge, mostly covered patio. Same great beer. A nitro Irish Stout recently caught my attention. Czech Pils. A new Northern English Brown. Regular cask offerings. Food of a high quality. We're lucky to have a place like this in STL.

A STL hidden gem is Wellspent Brewing. My buddy and I had 6 pours between us and everything was great. Rex Kwan Do, the Belgian Tripel was at the top of the list. Runners up were Coffee Stout and Tropical Sour. Had a small taste of the Rye Why? Rye Wine and immediately bought a bottle.

STL now has a Pro soccer team. Relatively close to Wellspent and Schlafly Tap Room. Home games 5/6 and 13. 2nd Shift Brewligans probably your best bet.

Civil Life...

 

Last time I was in St. Louis, Civil Life had just completed their patio, but it wasn't open yet. I hadn't seen photos of it. That looks spectacular.

With our travel plans, probably won't get the chance to visit many places this trip. Perhaps I need to plan another trip over there for beer and disc golf.

 

Interesting take on Modern. I’ve enjoyed their IPA’s I’ve had but have been most impressed by their barrel aged stouts which I think have been super impressive (more Phenom please). Apparently I need to track down more of the hops! Cheers!

3 day pickup window yikes

 

i’ve been frantically going over my schedule to see if i can make the trip on sunday. i had phenom bourbon and phenom rye this past winter (received in a trade) and holy sh*t are they the real deal!

 

Anyone picking up Phenom in a couple days should do themselves a favor and go an extra 1/2 mile to 2nd Shift for both of their newest Double Barrel LSD releases. They are outstanding.

 

And the even newer Blanton's and Blanton's+Coconut LSD releases, they are just as outstanding. Plus you can get a 3oz pour (which is always more than 3oz) for $3. Incredible

 

Haven't had the newest releases, but I've been pretty much elated every time I've had an LSD variant. Hidden gem, that brewery.

 

The 2nd Shift membership is probably the best bang for your buck in beer

How is the abv so low on those BA LSD cans? Honestly would have thought they were higher

 

Yeah, $12-15/can is roughly what they've been at for a while. Better than paying $30+ for a 375ml I suppose.

Some of the adjunct versions are a little out there for me, but the base stout lets the barrel shine a lot.

 

did anyone see any posted limits on phenom rye?
