I thought that can was muted. Nothing popped. It had all the expected qualities, just mild. I agree that the sourness should be less than a Flanders Red (for example).

My use of the word “offensive” was a lighthearted jab. Once it warmed a bit the beer opened up, so I’ll definitely set the next one out before opening. And post a comment for comparison.

I was concerned this would be too herbal for my tastes, but the flavors were deftly integrated and creamy mouthfeel took this over the top. Delicious!

More sharp, bitter and attenuated than I expected when I tasted my first bottle but no complaints.

Been a while since I've had this. Nice toffee taste with a hint of tanned leather. Forgot how much I enjoy this beer.

She CRUSHED me! ”Attorney” for 80pt’s didn’t help any either. Thankfully I had a tasty Petrus Aged Pale - De Brabandere to soothe the wound.

The second game was closer, even thought she still won handedly.

Roadhouse Brewing in Jackson hole. A light, crisp Belgian inspired ale that is closer tasting to a pilsner than Belgian but still really nice and refreshing...they brew some great beers if you ever see any

Picked up a can of the Chimay yesterday at Total Wine. Haven't opened it up yet. Maybe later today.

Was shocked to see the difference in price between the 4 pack cans and 4 pack bottles. Cans going for $17.99, bottles at $25.99.

Whoa! That is a large difference in pricing.
Since it is a new packaging format maybe appropriate for a NBW post?

    Cheers!

One of my favorite Belgian beers outside of Belgium. A wonderful dark ale from Unibroue in Canada.

A creamy, enjoyable beer; notes of plum, leather & mild clove. Well balanced. I think I'll have another!

Just an addendum to my earlier post, I went in the same Total Wine today and the price on the bottles is now marked at $18.99 both in the store and on the website

Grand Cru from Brasserie de l'Abbaye du Val-Dieu. A quad that comes in at 10.5% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a dark brown with surprisingly little head. Most quads have much more head than this. The nose is fantastic. Malts, toffee, yeast, gingersnap cookies, raisins, a bit of port, and prunes.

The taste is super smooth and delicious. Sweet toffee, loads of malts, some Belgian yeast, graham crackers, slight maple, apple pie, slight bitterness, and raisin. Lovely beer with a super smooth mouthfeel. Definitely not drinking like it's a 10.5% beer.

Triple from Brasserie de l'Abbaye du Val-Dieu.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice semi-transparent orange with about an inch of white head. Quickly dissipates. The nose is orange, wheat, grass, bread, floral, and a hint of clove.

The taste is super smooth. Lemon, orange, caramel, honey, clove, sweet candy malts, and an earthy note. Lovely.

Nice light mouthfeel with a relatively soft and sweet aftertaste.
