For a recent loss- Brooklyn Sorachi Ace. It felt like I was the only one in the western suburbs of Chicago buying it.

I still miss Chicago Brewing’s Big Shoulders Porter from the early/mid 90’s.

Oh, yeah - it's a tough topic to search for and, like most of life, such things come up again and again. I'd bet that searching for Pete's Wicked Ale would be the easiest way to find such threads, too*.
    (Let me check).
OK, such as in a thread titled Beer/beer styles from the past that you would like to drink or see more of? where the OP even writes "Pete's Wicked Ale - one of my favorites from the 90's"
(* Ditto for my Denver Post quote  ).

Pete's Brewing Co. (sic) had a rather rapid collapse. Seems to have peaked at the #2 "Craft Brewer" in 1996, behind only Boston Beer Co., with a barrelage of 426k (which today would still put it in the Top Five Craft Brewers). By 2003 it was down to around 68k. A few years later, Gambrinus' announcement for the discontinuation referred to the brand's "rapidly declining sales".
    :astonished: I guess so.

As M. Jackson wrote in one the final editions of his Pocket Guide to Beer (circa 2000):

Cinci Lager by Carling was a Canadian beer with very minimal import into the US. I had it during a fishing trip to Canada sometime in the late 60s. As a neophyte back then and normally drinking PBR, Blatz, etc, this was the first beer that I had that had flavor, and I loved it. I've never had it since that trip, and it was discontinued sometime around that era. I'd love to try it again.

The only pic that I could quickly find is in this collectors link:
    https://www.breweriana.com/beer-cans-non-us-flat-tops/cinci-lager-beer-4779/

(I wish I'd kept some of those empties.)

Oh, yeah - meant to mention this (not to turn it into a Pete's thread. Oops, too late).

Approx. time line of Pete's contract breweries:

1986 - Palo Alto Brewing Co., CA
    1987 - 1992 - August Schell, MN
    1992 - 1995 - Minnesota (Heileman spin-off), St. Paul MN
    1995 - 1999 Stroh, MN-WA-NC
(1998 - Brand sold to Gambrinus)
    1999 - 2004 - Miller
    2004 - 2011 - F X Matt

Pete's 1997 Financial statement notes that the two biggest shareholders of the company, both with 9.66% of the stock, were the Stroh Brewery Co. and Christopher Sortwell, Stroh's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

To quote the great classic Roman philosopher Beeraclitus “No man ever drinks the same one-off twice, for it’s not the same beer and he’s not the same man.”

The beer I most wish to revisit was a Three Floyd’s dunkel called Banana Split 7” brewed back in 2009. It’s was an extremely balanced, delightful, and quaffable beer despite huge chocolate and banana flavors. It was almost like a precursor to the pastry stout years before those were a thing, however the chocolate and banana flavors were derived from the malts and yeast as opposed to just dumping chocolate and fruit flavors in like brewers do today. Alas, the 2nd batch, though decent, wasn’t as good as the first and that was the end of that one off.

    Trivia Time:
That silhouette of the waiter on the Cinci can is there to suggest the brand's infamous "Who Wants the Handsome Waiter?" logo. For reasons I don't know (and never bothered to research) a very similar image and slogan was used by Massachusetts' Hampden Brewing Co.

I'll flaunt the rules and call out two:

First would be Allagash Odyssey - I may have the last two bottles on the planet. Delightful beer the missus and I both enjoyed immensely. Not a "perfect" beer, just hits all the right notes for both of us which is rare.

Second would be Pretty Things (in general) but in particular Grampus.

Michelob Light was the only light beer I ever liked or bought after my brother introduced it to me. Was solid in the modern bottles as well, until they messed with the formula a few years after Michelob Ultra became popular. Also liked Michelob, miss the $1 beer specials for both at Casino Royale on the Las Vegas Strip (which may soon be replaced).

This and the Anchor beers are ones I miss listed so far that were accessible here. Solid selection and offering!
