What beer are you drinking now? #4002

1) Drekker From The Feet Up (8.0% canned 8/29/23): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Strata for flavors of dank tropical fruit and strawberry, grapefruit citrus, and mango notes. Creamy and smooth.
versus
2) Phase 3 DDH Adhara (8.3% canned 8/30/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Galaxy and Citra for flavors of passionfruit, bright oranges, grapefruit zest and vinous notes. Bright, juicy, clean. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Drekker From The Feet Up: NEIPA Battle and no real reason for these two other than I couldn't find another one with Strata to put up against Drekker and wanted to see if I could differentiate the hops in the blind test. A NEIPA with all Strata. I've seen breweries like BlackStack try this in the past and often turns out poorly. This one was surprisingly good. Enough oats and malt to cut some of that Strata astringency for a very smooth and flavorful beer. For whatever reason I think Strata seems to drink better at higher ABV like this DIPA.
Adhara is pretty good with a bit more juiciness from the dry-hopping, but this one from Drekker is better than I expected.

 

Rather annoying day today - having a Jai Alai. Damn stinkbugs are invading the inner space - I've been vacuuming them up as they appear, I hate those damn things and the aroma they emit.

It's very satisfying to suck them up with the vacuum

 

It is a gloomy rainy day here, and I love it. We have needed this for like 5 or 6 months now ha.

Onto round 2 and thought i would flip the script from round 1 and enjoy an IPA, this one being from NoDa in Charlotte. Been a few years since i have had it but it is stellar! You can find NoDa in one of the Southwest Airlines concourses at CLT if you are catching a connection.

Venn Pils (5.6%): A Czech Pils from Minnesota with flavors of German Pilsner malt, bread, some lemon hop flavors with a dry yeast.

A Czech Pils with extra hopping to make it bitter like a German Pils. Very nice. Not too familiar with Venn Brewing Co. Seem like an upcoming brewery from Minnesota. I've had a few of their beers now and most of them have been good. The Festbier wasn't great, but the Helles and this Pils have been excellent. They brew a lot of different styles too. A Czech Pils is not always an easy style to get right. Classy can art, a fantastic Czech Pils, and will be excited to pick up more from these guys.
