Maybe they should relabel it, "Born Last Month".

Been refreshing the store locator for these boys and they finally arrived at a local Whole Foods a couple of neighborhoods away. I wish I could have tried this last Thursday when it was really released - San Francisco used to get Day One distribution.

But the first thing that hits you is the aroma - it leaps off the glass! A touch of dank, but a lot of citrus and papaya. The taste is filled out nicely, with big fruity-hop notes upfront and through the mid-palate. Then the dank character comes it towards the back and lingers, adding some bitterness in the finish.

I agree with @JBogan 's take that this year's doesn't wow me like it did in previous vintages. But I'd be hard-pressed to find a shelf beer as good as this, as cheap as this, and in a standard sixer. I'm quite pleased.

A billion times better than Phase Change, their BY replacement from last year? A couple years back? I forget - but I did not like it at all. I'd say BY is back!
    Phase Change

I think Phase Change was a couple/few years ago. The more recent Lagunitas wet hop release was Contents Under Fresher…which I thought was pretty darn good.

I'm on the opposite end. I hated both Phase and, Contents. Thought they were horrible replacements for BY. Glad to have the real one back even if I dont see any

Lagunitas is very slow getting these out to the CT every time. They never get here within a month generally. Agravating to know how good they must be under a month old but I will never know. Just venting because there is practically no way I am not purchasing these Born Yesteryear and even with a few more days than I would like on them, They are very tasty. FU Laguntas form being so SLOW!!!

I'm not the biggest IPA fan (I know, I know -- I read the label, but...), but even I need a hop fix now and again.

Instilled in me from the early days of the MicroBoom®.

Just tell her to get a 6-pk, you drink your two bottles and she can have the rest, it will be cheaper that way, and she’ll thank you for that!

Here's a question -- where do they date the bottles on BY?

In previous years, it was made clear as day. I feel like I don't see it on the cardboard sixer carrier or the bottle itself this year.

That being said, this beer is brewed ("borned") once each year and that date is 10/5/2023 (with the first available date of the bottled version on 10/6/2023)

Annoyingly, on the neck where it's almost impossible to read at the store. Grabbed the below photo from UT.

Not entirely true. There are 10/2/2023 bottle dates in Illinois I know at least (and were packaged in Petaluma too I think but has not been confirmed). @ZebulonXZogg 's post above confirms the same 10/2/23 date.

@Jaycase -- thanks, I tried looking for ink-jetting on a bottle, but I probably wasn't in the right light. I'll check again.
