Indulging in some of Albany’s finest: Fidens, “Eugene’s Axe” DIPA! My buddy and his friend did a spontaneous run to Fidens last week from Dowingtown, PA and snagged me a 4 pack of this and some other goodies! I should have gotten more than one 4 pack!

Samuel Adams Hoppy Lager (4.8%): An American lager from Boston with flavors of orange citrus, tangerine, smooth and sweet bready flavors. Heavy and full.

First try at this Sam Adams Release Part of their Fall Seasonal. Seemed more like a summer style of beer rather than a Fall Seasonal, but to each their own. Pours darker than I'd expect for a lager. Some smooth orange and bready aromas that is backed by the flavor. Heavy, full, slightly sweet. The flavors sort of remind me of an Oberon with the orange and bread, but the body is heavier and sweeter. It doesn't seem very crisp or refreshing as described.

Hoppy German Lager rankings from today:
1) Surly Hell: Hoppy, flavorful, and German, yet clean and drinkable. Among my favorite summer lagers. Unlikely to change my mind.
2) Jester King Pils: Impressive German Pils that also has hoppy flavors. Mildly sweet and impressive for a German Pils. Blessed to get this one all the way from Austin.
3) Sam Adams Hoppy Lager: Not sure what they were going for here. This seems like a rich and full pale lager that you'd only grab because you're overly malted out from the rest of the rich beers in the fall pack or to appease the non-craft beer drinker with a lighter offering.

After a nice hike in Ten Mile Canyon, at ORB mothership enjoying a Vienna Lager and a.Black IPA. Both are great! Soaking up rays in 65° weather on a bluebird day.

That was my last bottle that I hauled back from NOLA, still tasting great. The glass, I also love, I got a few at a beer store that had discounted the beer the glass was packaged with, so I bought a few, nowadays the price at Total wine is way to steep, but I plan to live over a 100, so I’ll wait them out for a discount, hopefully the beer holds up!
