I tracked down singles at a local store and got a couple. The smell, taste, and appearance reminded me of Focal Banger. Luckily, I still had some Focal from August, so I had one right after drinking Born Yesterday. Very similar indeed, but Focal Banger is more complex and possibly cheaper if bought at the source. I'll need to check, but if I have one more can, I'll do a side-by-side in the next couple of days.

I'm having a fourth from my six-pack and I can recognize the evolution of this beer some are discussing (if not lamenting).

However, I can't say it's made this beer a worse beer, just different. Yes, the tropical fruit notes seem to have dropped off and allowed the pine (big whiff when the bottle was opened) and dankness to become more prominent. But it's still a pretty complex and flavorful beer.

An interesting flavor note I picked up is a light cheese character -- usually associated with *old* hops. Maybe the fresh hops turning?

Still not showing up in Central MD. The Lagunitas beer finder shows most of PA (except Pitt and Philly) is still not distributed and none of the state of MD when I checked last night.

Yeah, is this shit just not going to hit full wide distro? They fucked it up getting rid of it for a few years. Now they’re fucking up a beer called born yesterday and getting it to folks born a month ago. How does Lagunitas survive? Also any asking on their social media about distro is crickets.

    Great job LB

Like any of the big craft brands, they are on sale in every grocery store, liquor store, and gas station in the country as well as tons of bars, restaurants, and event venues.

They have got to be the biggest loser in terms of my beer dollars over the last decade. There was a multi year period where lagunitas was far an away the most common brewery I consumed. Anymore, I can't recall a lgunitas purchase outside of a couple packs of willetized

Completely agree that 10+ years ago and beyond I was buying what we could get on the East coast. There is literally nothing else I will purchase now outside of a few yearly hits. I just can’t believe that still draw so much $$ from shelf beer.

It's easy to forget how deep of a niche we are in on a site like this. Most beer drinkers will probably rarely if ever buy an ipa. But of those that do, most will buy something like lagunitas ipa.

I met up with an old childhood friend to camp with our families over the summer. He told me he "grabbed some good beers" to bring camping. It was literally blue moon and beck's. I think he probably represents the thought process of the drinking public a lot closer than you or I do

I'm not so sure about that -- a few months ago I stopped into an old local (basically a neighborhood pizza/sports tavern) and they had 3 IPAs on tap (never did before).

The longtime bar-tender told me they sell like crazy and she doesn't understand why -- thinks they smell like perfume.

I went to a newer, local tap-room last week -- 50 beers on tap, I believe? 10 were IPAs. My friend -- not a beer geek, drank Three Floyds Zombie Dust all night.

IPA has become ubiquitous to the every day beer drinker. Whether we like it or not.

I can understand what you're getting at, and it may be the case that most beer drinkers will purchase an IPA at least once in their life. But with craft market share below 15%, maybe 25% if we're being very generous about the volume sold by brands that don't meet the BA definition but that do produce IPAs, I'm not sold on this idea that it's really "ubiquitous to the everyday drinker".

I think, just looking at the stats, there must be a ton of beer drinkers who never buy an IPA.

Maybe not, but I was really surprised to see 3 on tap in the little suburban joint -- and hear that they're pretty popular.

Nevermind all of them I see on shelves in generic places like grocery stores.
