Nice to see that Alan is still involved in this, considering he closed up shop (Old Chimneys) & retired several years ago …limited cask tapings @ festivals & events ---
I havent dug through this entire thread, but a local brewery near me in Branford is doin a cask thingy tomorrow. Ive really enjoyed the beers they make so far and its about 10 mins from my house, so that is cool. also they do Kolsch nights with kranz purchase available. So this spot may be worth a trip for @AlcahueteJ especially. Caius Farm Brewery in Branford, Connecticut.
Brief write-up that briefly touches on the current state (of Cask) in the US, which does include non-traditional practices: Courtney grabs references/citations from Bradley Gillett, Gary Chopurian, Ryan Leonard, Greg Engert…digital issue is now available, for those interested “breweries…are now the fuel behind cask beer’s fire, rather than the bars where it would be more common 10 or 20 years ago. Taprooms are now more ubiquitous than beer bars, and breweries are returning to traditional styles often tied to traditional serving methods” – Courtney Iseman ---
Huh, never heard of the second pour on the picture on the wall. Looks like it's just standard pour only using a Lukr. Nadvakrat This pour is very similar to Hladinka, with the biggest difference being the order of how you pour it. Nadvkrat starts with filling your mug with beer and then finishing with a head of foam, which is how you would pour a beer from a standard faucet. The Czech refer to this pour as “crisp,” whereas the Hladnika is more smooth.
Below is a video I posted in the past. The Na Dvakrat (Crisp) pour is demonstrated at the 1:20 mark. Na Zdravi

In September I was in Bavaria for 28 days, 23 were in Franconia. Many breweries or Biergartens will have one or 2 beers served Bayerisch Anstisch, or from a barrel. Some are pitch lined wood barrel others are the newer rubber/plastic coated SS. More than a few have stopped using barrels as a labor saving move. Mahr's no longer serves the U from a barrel. Many have a barrel for show on the counter plumbed to the Brite tanks. It is never changed out, and if you look at the taps it will have SS pressure taps, not a Zapfhahn. One place had 3 pressure taps out of a barrel. You're more likely to find beers gravity dispensed in the country pubs or Biergartens. Schlenkerla still uses pitch lined wooden barrels in Bamberg.
