Happy Saturday BAs! Just cracked open a big can of Mexican Chocolate Yeti. I think I might have to nurse this one for a few hours - no matter, just gives me more time to savour this excellent stout. Cheers!

1) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn (6.0%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale Munich malts, bread malt, yeast. Slightly sweeter.
versus
2) Tucher Brau Festbier (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of earthy and pale Munich malts, bread, light flower. Leans drier. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Tucher Brau Festbier: German Festbier Battle. I did this battle earlier, but wanted to revisit. Paulaner is pretty much the Gold-Standard for me when it comes to this beer. Pale, smooth, and mildly sweet.
Tucher Brau is similar, but drinks slightly less sweet and bready. More earthy, floral, and authentic Munich malts. Slightly dryer as well. Tucher gets the edge here.

My German Festbier Rankings from the this year so far are:
1) Andechs
2) Tucher Brau
3) Paulaner
4) Weihenstephaner

 

A couple of 4Hands lagers including a nicely flavored pilsner with ginger and and tangerine, City Museum Pils


Nice space with a giant outdoor screen and fire tables. I'll be back here in November to see Allman Betts Family Revival. Can't wait.

That's awesome, but alas - not to be found in these parts. I think most stores around here gave up on it since it hasn't been available, and it's not a big seller. The guy at the local market told me I was the only one who bought it so he's not going to carry it anymore.He did say he would order me a case if I wanted, but I have no idea how fresh it would be so I'm not going that route. If I found it fresh I'd buy it, but in the meantime I've moved on. Cheers and enjoy!!
