What beer are you drinking now? #4029

1) Phase Three DDH Synchrophaser (7.8% canned 10/11/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Vic Secret and Strata for flavors of grapefruit and lemon zest, dry grape and mango skins. Clean and dry.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Cage’s Castles (7.8% canned 10/16/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with Strata, Nelson, Citra and Mosaic for flavors of orange flower, grapefruit, pineapple, some hints of grape and melon. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Toppling Goliath Cage's Castles: NEIPA Battle of NZ and Strata. First up is Syncrophophaser from Phase Three. Great combo of Vic Secret and Strata for grapefruit pulp, pine, and dry mango skins. Very clean and dry.
Next is a Cage's Castles, a new release from Toppling Goliath without any reviews. Citra, Mosaic base pluse Strata and Nelson. Promsing combination. Classic TG Orange flower flavors, a bit of grapefruit and white grape bite. Smooth and rounded.
My initial impresion is both of these are fantastic NEIPAs. Still extremely fresh, so I think the flavors will emerge a bit for both with a few more weeks of age.

Happy Wednesday ba. Pint of lager to start,

couple of chicken cutlet sandwiches as well,

 

Not at all what I expected. Too sweet and although it looks like a nice head, it's under carbonated.

 

Finally relaxing with a beer after getting some wings in the oven for dinner, and trimming all the peppers from this batch of chili peppers my neighbor brought over last night.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale (7.5%): A Winter Warmer from Ohio that has flavors of iced gingerbread cookie, caramel, bread, and light chocolate notes.

Finally November and post Halloween BeerAdvocates, so you know what that means. I hate seasonal creep, but there are a few beers like this one I’ll go out of the way to pick up a six pack as soon as I see it. With freezing weather and a snowy Halloween this one felt right to open this early. The gingerbread and cinnamon notes separate this one from the rest. I’m not expansive in the style, but I think the best Winter Warmer each year. There will probably be many of these to come. Happy November!

 

After complaining about it, I did finish it and the more I drank, the more I thought this isn't horrible. With the 10% ABV I did catch a buzz. That being said, I will not buy it again.

 

My last Aurora Brewing beer and last beer from my recent meetup with @TCgenny. Super smooth mouthfeel, a hint of Nelson and a nice mild biting finish. I have got to visit Aurora's new Pittsford NY location next time I go to that area.

 

Now for something that more resembles a beer. Cheers.

6 year Anniversary 12.5% and my Wednesday is getting started quickly. Cheers excellent stuff, not loving this years color, too dark.

 

Tis the season for a Celebration, should have just bought out 2 cans.
