From the Idle Hands thread. Gravity pour as always from them. Swung by again for the draft pour. I preferred that to the cask, but the cask was interesting! Get Alpha Fury if you dig West Coast IPAs by the way.
Joseph Holt to host its first cask ale festival - Beer Today "Joseph Holt was built on cask ale, and when it comes to cask ale the UK is a world leader in its production…we are passionate about cask ale and have continued to brew it, even when other pubs and brewers took it off the bar because of the attention to detail involved in crafting the product. That’s why we thought it was so important to stage a joyful event to celebrate our rich history of real ale"

“…some of these firkins come back…I don’t know…just because that bunghole is two inches wide, doesn’t mean you can throw fruit in there…we only send it to accounts that we know…know what they are doing…it’s a lot more work than people really want to deal with” - Greg Browne Podcast Episode 328: Art History is Finding Innovation in Its Focus on Tradition | Craft Beer & Brewing (beerandbrewing.com) A more recent discussion with Greg & Tom who are focusing on building a cask scene around the Chicago area with other breweries, some of which have trained/worked under Greg’s direction in the past (e.g. Lane Fearing @ Roaring Table). The conversation touches on: AH acquiring/installing a second engine & increasing real ale production (e.g. more firkins into circulation) Developing a pub ale series Reenergizing the cask ale scene via ‘marketing & positioning’ Importance of yeast selection more so than anything else Greg uses three strains, which is dependent on the region they are going for. Unfortunately, one of these cannot be sourced per Greg’s connection Sparkler usage based on yeast selection & conditioning (i.e. AH does not use a sparkler with the Fullers 1968 yeast: they condition the firkins more here) Distribution, Cleaning, Methods, Etc… --- Off topic (majority of the discussion): Greg & Tom dive into their lager practices, which does not involve decoction. Albeit, Greg is fairly methodical in ‘his’ workaround + they dive into the history, scaling, recipe building…
Adnam's Mosaic pale ale at The Mill in Cambridge UK. It seems not to garner a lot of praise but maybe that's the canned version. The pulls were really tasty. I have photos but no hosting, oh well.
I miss getting Adnams in the US. To think that we’d sometimes get Adnams casks… man, what a treat that’d be these days (even though they weren’t always in the best shape). The last time I had Broadside from a bottle, I couldn’t believe how good it was. I had underestimated it.

DS is taking the necessary steps towards a piston mount via a trial run with Suarez (i.e. Dan is bringing his setup, from Hudson to Albany, which he initially got from Evan Watson): This will be Colin & Lauren’s first (official) cask event (2xgravity + 1xpiston), which will inevitably lead to a proper installation. "Dan is bringing his setup" - Do they have an engine in use at Suarez? Do you know what "Our Finest" pale ale is? I don't know that beer.
They Do: The usage is periodic; however, this might pick up, considering the ‘new space’ Original Setup showing ‘Our Finest’, which is their American/English hybrid (Post Date: April) -
