This was a gift from a dear old friend who owns a wine distribution company and a broad wine accessory selection. This is a beautiful Chateau Vialis Creation Laguiole.

 

That contraption in the background is not a mysterious marital device, as some of you have pondered, but the best-ever mid-'90s Sam's Club $4.99 cordless wine opener! It has a foil-cutter tool on the top, and a forward and reverse button to puncture then back out, then expel the cork. It still works like a dream! Cheers!

 

Okay, I see it now. There is space under that ridge (that ring around the perimeter?) that I didn't notice before. Slick!

I always wanted the Pope Soap on a Rope, but they were out of stock last time I was at the Vatican.

 

Weird, they're usually available in the Vatican gift shop, hanging between the zucchettos and ferulas on the South wall.

For you gear heads out there (and I know you're out there) this was gifted to me by a Mountain Safety Research rep back when I was managing a outdoor recreation outlet store. Besides being a snowshoe shape, it's made of the same metal, DTX/316 stainless steel that their high end snowshoes are, which is water/corrosion resistant as well as malleable so if you bend it, it can bend back in place. So I keep mine in a semi-bent manner so it better resembles that iconic Ascent snowshoe lol.

Picked it up at the brewery about 15 years ago when I did a tour there. I did toy with the idea at the time of trying to turn it into a gear stick knob. Glad I never bothered now.

I bought this Tactica Credit Card Multitool as an afterthought when placing an order for one of their pocketknives recently. I plan to test the bottle opener function on that wax-sealed bottle of Gezellig's All Roggs Go To Heaven, an Elijah Craig barrel-aged Roggenbier I picked up last week. It looks like it will make short work of it, but we shall see. At Christmas. I can hardly wait!
