Brasserie de la Seillonne (Toulouse, France!!) ‘Serial Friends’ La Triple,,. Cheeeeers!

Here’s a locally made, bottle conditioned, 8.4% ABV, very hoppy, strong blonde ale, boosted and balanced with honey. Really good! Definitely the hoppiest brew I’ve had here.

Left work a little early, as did the GF. Watching the Tom Petty making of Wildflowers documentary because the GF likes Tom Petty (and just bought the album). They are using some old, found footage in the documentary. I am drinking an old, found beer from the fridge:

The documentary's footage has held up a bit better than the beer - not that I expect Hop Hunter to be in its prime at 7+ months.

I am guessing that is the one we decided to try on our first (and only) GABF 10 or so years ago

    1) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (5.4%): A German Hefeweizein with flavors of orange citrus spice, flower, bread spices, banana bread, and yeast.
    versus
    2) Andechs Weissbier Hell (5.5%): A German Hefeweizen with flavors of orange citrus spice, bread spices, banana, yeast. Smooth. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Andechs Weissbier Hell: German Hefeweizen Battle. First up is Weihenstephaner. Ranked the #1 Hefeweizen on BeerAdvocate and has won all of the other hefeweizen battles this year so far. It's dynamic, smooth, and complex.
Andechs is the #5 ranked hefeweizen on BeerAdvocate and Andechs usually wins most of the beer battles I've done. It drinks extremely similar. I couldn't get them right blind. It gets the win today because I mismatched them blind, thinking Weihenstephaner was the better hefeweizen. I think Weihenstephaner may have a better flavor profile, but Andechs has a more smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Really I can hardly tell them apart. I'd say they are #1 and #2 hefeweizens out there.

This one didn't last long. Now I have a dilemma: Old Fezziwig or the vanilla porter?

Baksteen Winkel, a Saison from Brasserie Kazematten. A bit dry for me (I got some odd sea salt notes) but overall not too shabby.

My Thanksgiving holiday has commenced at Untied Brewing with Uncharted Depths, a Belgian Strong Ale. Spicy apple and plum with a kiss of chocolate and peat. Great depth of flavor. I’ll give it the full NBW treatment. I foresee drinking a couple of packs as we enter Christmas season. Cheers!

@champ103 Great beer. If my Houston relatives visit this year, I'll definitely request that one. If not, I have to wait until I'm there in March. Any idea whether the British pub on Shepherd has Fullers back on tap?

    1) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 10/12/23): A NEIPA from Iowa since 2014 that is brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of orange citrus, pineapple, and tropical mango.
    versus
    2) Toppling Goliath Cage’s Castles (7.8% canned 10/16/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with Strata, Nelson, Citra and Mosaic for flavors of orange flower, grapefruit, pineapple, some hints of grape and melon. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) King Sue:
TG NEIPA Battle. Revisiting this battle from last week because I couldn't tell them apart. Today I identified them blind far more easily.
First up is The King. Not much needs to be said.
Next is Cage's Castles. Similar Citra, but with the addition of Strata, Nelson, and Mosaic. A fantastic hop addition. Again, very similar to King Sue, but slightly more tropical and sweeter. Similar flavor, but the mouthfeel doesn't stand up as well. Shows the alcohol a bit and doesn't quite have that perfect King Sue creaminess. Did this battle to see which 4-pack I should pick up for the holiday weekend. Now I know.
