Was at Great Heights Brewing.

Had their Deacon Brodie Scotch Ale, which is pretty good. Reading this excellent short story collection by a Portuguese writer, Jose Eduardo Agualusa. If you ever wanted to know what it would be like for Jorge Luis Borges to be in hell, or how Brazilian fisherman manifest Clarice Lispector to dream up fish for them, then this is your book...meaning this is my perfect short story book ha.



Then over to Ploughman's Deli. For a monstrous Reuben Sandwich, which is one of the best sandwiches in the city, and what do you know they have Celebration on tap.

 

Preparation has begun with my trusty Duvel assistant. Cheers.

Half Acre Deep Moat DIPA (HBC 1019, HBC 586, Riwaka, Strata). Lots going on with this one. Orange sherbet, valencia orange sorbet, fresh-squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice, passionfruit, lychee, ripe mango, yellow peach, guava, some coconut milk, grapefruit and orange peel and essential oil, some earthy funk, pine resin. I still prefer Half Acre's clear hops, but this is some top notch haze.

One of the movies I grew up on ha. Love it.

If anybody is wondering what Macaulay Culkin is doing now, well he is reviewing movies with the Red Letter Media guys. They just released their Re:View of Raising Arizona. It is usually a series on re watching 80's and 90's movies and it is always great.

 

Had this happen with a Hardywood Kentucky Christmas Morning from last year - though I had noted the unexpected dropoff in flavor over the past 10 or so months, the last bottle was definitely infected. Have two left to see if there's a unexpected pearl.

Having a cloudy IPA from The Answer (out of Richmond) and someone they collaborated with. Too lazy to go look at the can for details, but figured I'd at least sort of mention what I am drinking now as we start the Grateful Dead documentary series.

 

Planes, Trains & Automobiles...the longest journey ever from St. Louis to Chicago.

The MIL is coming into town tomorrow, which meant a thorough house cleaning. My wife also asked me to move my beer to a different (more convenient) closet. Gave me an opportunity to organize it by brewery and year.

 

Almost turkey time! Today kind of had a Friday vibe at work.
I am enjoying a special helping of Broccoli, gifted by @TCgenny and transported 350 miles by my son.
