Giving Doppleganger a shout out, as this most recent batch is fantastic! Definitely should have a regular spot in the rotation.

    Double-Double Flip-500ml
(Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, 500ml, Limit 2PP) Autumn 2023 Vintage. We were on a quest to make a new phenomenal beer utilizing several rounds of barrel-aging, but we couldn’t settle on the name. Triple Double Oak? Triple Flip Oaked? Triple Drink? Triple Double? Double Check? Orville Mash? A call to our VERY good friend Buzz Clutterbuck sealed the deal: Double-Double Flip. With a metaphorical skid of barrel-forward flavor, Double-Double Flip erupts with a profile that’s like taking a flavor whip to your lip, do you catch me? Double-Double Flip is ready to get buck wild—guaranteed. It is factual. So pull up a chair just there catty-corner to those you love, and bring a parcel of Double-Double Flip to your next buffet. You’re going to enjoy it, end of paragraph.

Kinda think descriptions like this take away from the experience. Just tell me what’s going on and how it was aged, or don’t. The history is part of the experience of a barrel aged beer, in my opinion.

It won’t affect my decision on purchasing the bottle, but I’d just like to know the process.

Not sure if I'm upset or releaved that I missed the double barrel stout and also Brownie by a few days. Somehow the DB stout is 2pp, which I would obviously have done

The TreeHouseReleases IG account had a better description.

"Today we are pleased to release Double-Double Flip, our first double barreled stout.

Following a year in Double Oaked Woodford Reserve barrels, Double Double Flip spent an additional year in Buffalo Trace barrels before conditioning and bottling.

Bourbon soaked candies and milk chocolate for days.

Our barrel program has matured substantially in the last year, and gems such as this are just the tip of the barreled iceberg to come."

But what's in the beer? No mention of anything other than that its a DB stout and the barrels used. The picture shows coffee beans though.

Anyone here had any of the Guilded Grove series yet? I’m curious what they mean by ‘blonde barleywine’?

think three floyds behemoth.. more like a double ipa in many ways, less toffee and caramel. (not sure about this particular one, but other blonde barleywines i've had in the past...)

No coffee in it, just a straight DB aged stout from my taste of it. Think the coffee beans were just for visuals.

That’s a very odd visual to add if no coffee added.

Agreed. I'd be much more interested in this beer if it didn't have coffee.

Yet, nowhere in the naming, messaging, or labeling of this beer is there reference to coffee. Strange indeed…

Sounds like media + marketing weren’t on the same page as the brewers + barrel room. Not completely surprising.

I was under the impression that Nate takes all the pictures. I know he does photography. Maybe they hired out with that $10m bonus

Yeah, while Nate seems to be as hands on as any owner / brewer in the industry, there’s only so much time in a day. The photographers name is Cody.
