This was the only beer I ordered yesterday at the Revolution Brewpub during my second drinking for the day. I enjoyed two 20 oz cask pours. This was very good and while I doubt it will be available beyond the weekend, I hope they bring this back in future years.

In Courtney's first piece for Pellicle she touches on the past, present, and resurging cask scene around Manhattan, which includes Alex Hall's involvement (past) + Jason Sahler's 'Cask Week' ambitions (present) -

Just found this thread. Cheers. Here’s a pint I loved of Loch Lamond Silkie Stout from cask at the Bow Bar this summer in Edinburgh, Scotland. They always have a number of cask ales available though I only had a couple of pints of the stout… and a few pours of scotch. Cheers.

That piece was quite optimistic. Any enthusiasm or acceptance feels quite small, but it isn't dead. To me, NYC is a beer engine ghost town with a small number of active places (some more dependable than others). As the article makes clear, there's been a definite shift from engines in bars to a brewery focus. This has it's upsides, but one downside is that it's a local stranglehold. There's basically only one venue in the city where someone can potentially get out-of-state cask beer.

Granted, WE has the largest cask program in NY, but there are not enough cask-run places to facilitate this, so they outsource to PA. Nonetheless, the optimism behind Jason might change this, as more venues in NY are encouraged to make the investment in education & equipment. Or, in some cases, education and restoration, for dispensing real ale…not in the city, but Draught Industries recently installed an engine that Ian Hatton assisted with

Name recognition & accreditation is seemingly at play here vs. older establishments maintaining a built up relationship, and having no desire to seek “out-of-state cask beer.” However, and granted this is also not in the city, but Drew Hodgson might pull in some external/outer NY ales per his research, when The Ambleside Pub finally opens. Albeit, the focus will still be on the more local/NYS side (e.g. Old Glenham, Seneca Lake)

Here you see cask served by the Scottish air pressure system rather than through handpumps. The font has a side-pull tap similar to the Lukr system. The Bow Bar is a great pub.

The look of it makes one think of American hazy ale rather than English golden. Not saying it’s a black and white thing though.

I thought it was unusual. And I my have misunderstood the server (I've already had a few) but I'm prettt sure that's what he said. The brewer is very good and reliable though.
