Had a couple of these back in August/September and they were coffee bombs. This one is very much chocolate forward. Still excellent but I definitely lean heavily towards coffee stouts.

this came up a little short compared to crushing mass and cocomungo but still very solid. lot of bourbon spice and heat so thinking a few months of mellowing could be just the trick for this one. cheers!!

We get a number of Three Floyds beers here, even Crushing Mass has been seen (and purchased!) but I've not seen that one. Hopefully it's just so new I've not seen it *yet*.

Cheers @Braunmeister_1943 I'm sure you're enjoying something good around the fire right about now.
    Does @RaulMondesi even Imperial Stout?

Alright. This is really good. I’m a sucker for these breakfast adjunct stouts. Found a slew of Prairie stuff on the shelf, and for $15 this was the only one I bought, because I knew I would like it

French Toast Brunch from Prairie. Barrel aged with maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla. One of my favorite combos. I would actually commit blasphemy and call for ANOTHER adjunct; coffee. It’s still phenomenal the way it is!

I think @RaulMondesi has a stout once a year, or when we put one in his hand...

Gargoyle's Slumber from Stone. Aged in bourbon barrels for an unknown amount of time (at least the info isn't on the can). 11% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with light brown head. The nose is quite subtle. Not picking up much, other than a faint note of roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. For 11%, I'm a bit surprised.

The taste is much better than the nose. Still getting some nice layer of roasted malts, definitely getting the bourbon, and also getting notes of vanilla, chocolate, raisins, and a bit of toffee.

Body is relatively thin for what it should be, and the intensity of flavor is a tad lower than expected. Good for sure.

    4.04/5 rDev -3.8%

One of the finest non BA imperial stouts available. Wish it were still available in west Michigan.

Noooooo dislike. I love stouts but they are hard to find in this hoppy and hazy world

Nilla Nest, a collab between Cellarmaker and Horus. Imperial stout aged in Willett rye barrels for 22 months and conditioned on 3 types of vanilla. Comes in at 14.8% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very thick black with no head. The nose is full of an insane amount of vanilla. Followed by chocolate, rye, marshmallow, and biscuits.

The taste is pretty great. VERY vanilla forward - almost a bit too much for me. Almost tastes like I'm sipping on vanilla extract. There is some bitterness mixed with sweetness here. This all calms down a bit after a few minutes, and some other amazing flavors emerge. Fudge, truffles, marshmallow, oak, slight coffee, some roasted malts, and brown sugar. Rye notes thread things together.

The mouthfeel is very thick and creamy. The aftertaste is vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla.

So I buy a number of new stouts to test drive for our SANs and this is one of them.
    I know, I know, I’m selfless. LOL!

This is seriously good - amazing job Rhinegeist. Has the chocolate, the dark fruit, and the coffee with just a touch of bitterness to keep the sweet at bay. I think I need to get more of this.
