What are the thoughts of my fellow members, is it possible for a fellow BA member to start too many threads? Or is it all good, easily move on if not interested in the thread?
    Asking for a friend

As long the content is relevant than I think not. If someone’s posts are solely composed of responses such as “i dont no” “ya” or “if u think so” then their just a fucking idiot. People used to post responses like those ones constantly on Yahoo Answers. Thankfully no one says those things here!

For new threads the important thing is not to repeat a topic that was recently done. Do a search first.

Good advice, since I am REALLY new to posting here, it will be easier as I become more involved 2024 and beyond.

There are a few posters who seem to have to reply to every thread, often multiple times, and they could slow their rolls a bit, but for the most part, as long someone is helping the convo move along, it's OK.

Agreed. It's fairly uncommon these days, but I remember seeing some threads where the OP clearly felt he/she had some proprietary interest in the responses submitted. They would respond to every single post in the thread, even if they really didn't have anything relevant to add. I find that a bit annoying.

But that's not something I see very often of late.

Back when one could acquire Karma points per post, @shogokowada (I think was his name) made a point to reply in every thread. He shot past me in points very quickly.

    No way.
If it brings you joy, do it!
For example, I have lots of random collections and interests that may seem esoteric (way too many folding knives & fixed blades, an ridiculously impressive old school martial arts kung fu dvd collection, a 90s hardcore punk record collection that could pay my rent for many months, too many refrigerator magnets, etc). I love all of these stupid material possessions so much I should really be ashamed. Eff it, do what brings you joy.

    GO BIRDS!

Wow! I made the top 10 without even trying!

Nevermind it took 20 years.:rolling_eyes:

Breaks down to 2.7 posts a day -- yeah, I got too much time on my hands. :stuck_out_tongue:

We won't mention the big erasure that happened a few years ago where everything got wiped out by a computer bug, and we all restarted from scratch.

If there’s interest then the thread will thrive. How much is too much?
I’ve done this, especially on smaller or more esoteric threads. I’ve also “liked” most posts on threads I’ve started. I think of this as a healthy bit of encouragement when the topic is interesting and the thread has life to it.

I've certainly thought I'd posted too much in the past, but two things.
    • No one has said anything to me (yet )
    • This site would be a lot more boring if no one posted!
I don't always read through each page of wbaydn but I'm never disappointed when I do.

    Cheers friends :beers:

Over time, topics naturally become repeated, ad nauseam. There are only so many original thoughts to be had. Some days I might be interested, other days my eyes will just slide past the header. No harm, no foul.

OTH, there have been certain BA’s who feel obliged to respond to every single post with ‘well, I don’t know anything about that, but… hey, look at me, look at me!’ and, over time, they have eventually found their way into my ‘people I ignore.’

    And yet...

And I won't mention that I didn't post for my first 2 years after joining up, so maybe I really am applying myself.
