    How is that? I love the non barrel aged version of that brew.

    Black Tuesday 2016 - a 20.3% Stout by The Bruery. Thanks to @2beerdogs for this monster. Cheers.

    Remedy BA Grond Imperial Stout, 13% ABV. Pours black with a 1.5 finger medium-brown head that left some lacing. Nose is chocolate/cacao, coffee, and roasty malt. Taste is light chocolate, roast malt, and strong coffee, slightly sweet, moderately bitter. Bourbon is in the background, overshadowed by the coffee. Decent enough mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Tastes pretty much like the non-BA Grond since the bourbon is not very evident, but still a solid coffee stout.

    First beer I've been able to have in a few days, and a good choice.

    On rare occasions :stuck_out_tongue: I like to have an Imperial Stout, even a Russian one :stuck_out_tongue:, so I decided to break into the crawlspace for this, Surly Darkness from '20, not barrel aged, no added junk, pure goodness. [IMG]
    I wanted something good for my last post in this thread, I guessed wrong, got something great!
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    No head. Great smell, taste, and mouthfeel. Same overall as 2022 with a ding on the appearance.

    Ratings and scores: 4.0 4.0 4.5 4.5 4.25; BA weighted overall score: 4.3; rDev: +1.7%

    Same scores for the look and smell as from 2019; more of a foam sheeting appearance. Have to bump the taste up .25 points; incredibly rich and balanced; cocoa and milk chocolate entwining a bit of oak and well-hidden bourbon undercurrent; nice mild bitterness edginess for depth. The mouthfeel remains its same ol' outstanding self.

    Much like the 2019 version I tried, this is one exquisite mutha of beer. It brings some well-refined sensory elements to the palate. The 2022 version ABV comes in at 11.0%.

    Pouring temperature: 55 °F; bottling info: (appears to be) 07/23/22

    Original November 19th, 2019 ratings and scores:

    4.0 4.0 4.25 4.5 4.0; overall score: 4.15; rDev: -1.9%

    Coal-black body topped with a thin yet dense and creamy tan head; sticky rings of foam attached to the glass. Rich nose comprised of cocoa and bitter chocolate. Beautiful flavors of cocoa, milk chocolate and a gentle bourbon presence; some grain char; a twinge of bitterness mixed with some dark grain astringency. Heavy, silky body; viscous; residual sugars galore; a tad warm.

    This pFriem offering constitutes another stellar offering from the brewery. They remind me somewhat of Denver's River North with how they deftly craft some fine dark beers. The balance of flavors and barrel aging are top-notch. A stellar example of tasteful (and tasty) dark ale barrel aged to perfection.

    This is really good. Tastes like it has a lot of time on it, but it’s this year’s vintage. Reminds me a lot of that Heist double barrel aged stout I posted here a few weeks ago

    Maybe superior to this years, but no way in hell the watery mouthfeel of CW is in the lead . NEVER.

    take it back:cold_sweat::sob:

    This beer is the shit. Awesome in 8oz dosages
