Grimm - XXXXX "Mild Barley Wine Ale" (mild?)

500ml bottle served in a snulip. If there is a date, I don't see it. @Braunmeister_1943 sent it to me in a trade.

Pours a murky toffee brown, almost no head on the pour, though a ghostly dusting emerges slowly after the pour, leaving a tiny bubbly ring with a tiny island dead center. Looks thick, syrupy, actually the color reminds me of a dark maple syrup. Smell is dates and toffee, sweet with a deep woody earthiness.

Taste definitely has all that sweetness with the dates and toffee, woody earthiness intensifies into a bark bitterness. Bitterness is actually pretty striking, having a hard time pinning it down. Maybe burnt sugar?

Mouthfeel is thick, rich, not too lively but not disappointingly still, a little chewy and sticky. Overall, this is really nice.

Appearance: Black with some brown highlights in the light, small brown head.

Smell: Boozy, dark fruit, maybe it's the chicory?--kind of a molasses note.

Taste: Some sweetness that shifts into sweetened coffee with a kind of minor cinnamon note. Some chocolate and then the molasses note again in the finish. Coating feel, definitely a sipper.

Overall: Second one from the Boulevard mix 6 BA beers. I think I like it slightly better than the spiced stout, still kind of a weird mix of flavors to me.

I am drinking this 4 year Anniversary NEDIPA. Modestman Brewing and Fidens Brewing Company did a collaboration for this one.

Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Pours a very attractive hazy dark yellow with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves a thick collar of lace, with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma is white grape, peach, mango, mandarin, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows the Nelson hits first with white grape, peach, mango, mandarin, and apricot well balanced. 4.5

Mouthfeel is rather large, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8.5% it goes down extremely easy, but has massive flavor. 4.75

Overall this one is very impressive, haze for days. 4.5

[IMG]Enjoying a new Imprint Beer Co. offering: “Frosted Hops “ 2023! A nitro infused hazy DIPA!

Pours a dark hazy golden yellow with a dense, frothy head. Fragrant tropical fruit aroma with a subtle hoppiness. Lush juicy fruity notes. Very full mouthfeel with creamy carbonation. A very good DIPA from Imprint!

Why hello there my favorite beer friends! Is it already the weekend?? Guess it’s time to share beers together again. The brothers phisher are sleeping out tonight so our house is eerily quiet, but boy is it nice, first time we’ve had it in a long long time. Time for a beer…this one from @snaotheus beer saint #1.

Russian River - STS Pils (Keller Pils 5.35%)

Lightly cloudy straw colored, white head, soapy, decent initial cap retention.

Nose is cracker like with grainy sweetness, touch of herbal character with some light floral undertone; perhaps a very light touch of sulfur.

Taste is richer cracker, verges towards bread like still with grainy sweet character, hop character is noticeably more earthy and grass like that nose implied…once warm I even get a light weed like note.

Bigger end of light bodied, smooth, moderate grassy bitterness on the finish, soft on the palate, mostly dry with some linger light malt.

Very much enjoyed this beer, the malt is nice; it is a hoppy pils for sure but has some fuller malt character, at least for me. Thanks for sharing Ryan.

    ————

May have another new one or just enjoy a familiar beer and spend time with Mrs Phisher. Time will tell, but I will see you all later, tomorrow or tonight TBD. Cheers everyone.

Pours the ubiquitous very hazy orange color with the fluffy white head that coats the glass with lacing that Tree House beers are noted for. Beautiful hazy. The nose is a tropical fruit basket, with loads of mango, ripe grapefruit, tangerines, and passion fruit. Wow.

The taste is a very delicious blend of all the aforementioned mentioned tropical fruits, with the ripe grapefruit and mango most prominent, plus a nice dollop of sweet oats at the back of the palate to balance the surprising (and welcome) moderate bitterness.

The mouthfeel is soft and full, again as expected. I had high expectations for this beer, and those expectations were met.

Enjoying a Black Science IX from Adroit Theory Brewing. Cool can art.
    I gave it 4.17:

Pours dark as ink. Head was fairly thin, darker shade of tan with a sporadic amount of lacing. Nose was chocolate, but not super sweet with a hint of charr and coconut. Initial taste was coconut and dark chocolate that faded to a light sweetness across the back of palate. Warmth builds on throat, however it was mild. At 13% this is deceptively smooth.

By All Means Brew Lab Fresh Hop IPA, 7.0% ABV; 3.97 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with 2 fingers+ of whippy cream-colored head. Great lacing & very good head retention

S: Citrus, a touch of green melon

T: A lot of grapefruit, some dryness, tangerine up front. Grapefruit & pomelo as this beer warms up, plus dryness & bready notes. Finishes dry with bitter grapefruit, and pine, & pomelo, plus a touch of malty sweetness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, pretty good balance skews a little bitter

Had loftier expectations for this one, I need a little sweetness mixed in. Still very drinkable

Another rainy day here. My buddy in WI is sending me pictures of what looks about two feet of snow. I can send back pictures of mud puddles...

    Ok...this seemed different:

Been a while since I needed directions for opening a can..invert three times and pour down the middle...

Reddish brown slightly cloudy after the nitro effect passes. Yeah, it did the cascade thing and made a very nitro stout-like inch thick light tan head. The cascading thing was pretty brief.

It essentially smells and tastes like the regular Three Philosophers, but it seems a bit lifeless. It has the cherry flavor and smell and the obvious quad richness and maltiness with a little sweetness, caramel/ toffee. No bitterness, slight spicy phenolics. Alcohol not particularly hidden but not intrusive, either. After a few sips, it takes on some sherry character I remember from the OG version. Flavor does get bigger as it warms up.

The feel I don't think I care for, but that could be my imagination creating resistance to the idea. I think the flavors seem heavier and maybe muted versus the normally carbonated beer, but is that real or artifact? It's good, but the jury is deadlocked on the nitro gimmick.

Finally get to join in on this thread today! Been dealing with snow for much of the day and I am pretty wiped. Dee wanted me to take apart the microwave to see if I could tell what was making the rattle or vibration noise. Aside from broken front feet, I found nothing amiss. But wanted a beer while working so went lower ABV than my normal stouts.
Saw this one today while looking for something else and thought I’d try it.
Poured the color of a breakfast blend coffee and sported a dense beige head which left sheets of lacing.
The taste was not a “robust” porter, but one created for the masses- nice malt profile, a little sweet, no harsh or bitter at all. Just a tasty, if one dimensional, porter.
The feel was pleasantly full, which belied the flavor which was not. It’s easy drinking to be sure.
OA, I could likely drink a 6 pack of this in a weekend and be happy about it. But it doesn’t push any boundaries, and not all beers need to. It’s just a nice beer.
Cheers! I will be back with my stout soon!

Dark, opaque color, looks black in the glass; thin, light khaki colored head. Fine aroma; a touch of dark malt and chocolate with a note of bourbon and white oak; star anise. Light milk chocolate base flavor with an almost mint-like backdrop; mild bourbon flavors sneak into the picture late into the sip. Heavy body; smooth and silky; a fine, lingering alcohol heat and warmth.

This is a beautiful rendition of a barrel aged beer. Being an old ale, I certainly appreciate and love what this Michigan brewery has done with this particular beer. Smooth, tasty, hides its ABV very, very well -- this is a good'n...

Expecting more precipitation this weekend after getting 13 inches of snow a few days ago. At least it’s not cold, highs in the 40’s. Nonetheless, perfect weather to stay in and enjoy some football and beer! This new to me local brew is Revision’s Reno As Fuck Hazy DIPA. In all honesty, the only reason I bought a four pack of these was because of the name. These guys got my respect for having the cajõnes to put “fuck” on a can!

    Now for my impressions of the first can;
Nose: Extremely light. Hops, a tiny hint of citrus, that’s it.
Look: Very nice. Hazy, darker yellow, good head.
Taste: On the bland side. Some Mosaic hops come through. Certainly doesn’t stand out from any of the other bazillion hazies.
Feel: Medium in the mouth. Goes down quite smoothly. Not bad at all.
Overall: Your average hazy. Hopefully the remaining three have some better flavor.

Thank you @scott451 for kicking off the weekend.

    Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA

Can Notes: Gift beer from my brother’s variety pack, 12 oz canned 10/4/23 at 7:23 AM. 6.2% ABV, contains malted barley. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Chico, California & Mills River, North Carolina.

Appearance: Aggressive center pour of about 2/3 of the can yields significant soapy creamy slightly tan head above a crystal clear bronze ruby base with light carbonation. 4.0

    Aroma:
Nice pine hop lead, citrus, cherries, cinnamon, mild in flavor, strong in pleasure. 4.25

    Taste:
Pine, citrus, freshly baked bread. Lighter than the aroma in terms of strength, and different, but the flavors work well. 4.0

Mouthfeel: Light and easy, barely there carbonation, slightly dry. Leans sweet malt, pine hangs on on the dry finish. 4.25

    Overall:
Another solid effort by Sierra Nevada. Hops and beer overall holds on well now over three months from packaging. I buy Sierra Nevada with confidence. Thank you brother for sharing your variety pack, really liked them all! 4.25

May return with one or two more tonight, including possibly a new to me brewery.

Curvature Batch 15 from Phase Three. Imperial stout with marshmallow and peanut butter. Comes in at 11.9% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black (and with that consistency!) with light brown head. The nose is full of peanut butter, vanilla cake icing, confetti cake, marshmallow, and chocolate.

The taste is super smooth. Peanut butter emerges as the dominant ingredient here. Some bitter dark chocolate, coffee grounds, marshmallow, slight maple, burnt toffee, and some charred wood. Definitely not as sweet as suggested by the nose. Really interesting with a lot going on.

The mouthfeel is super thick and creamy. Overall, a very nice stout.

Drekker Snozzberry BRAAAAAAAAins Double Fruit Smoothie Sour, 6.5% ABV. Pours thick and opaque maroon with a one-finger pink head that left puree residue. Aroma is a sweet berry mashup, lactose, and vanilla. Taste is various berries, vanilla, lactose, quite sweet, moderately tart, with salt on the close. Plum takes the edge off the sour. Nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel, overall outstanding. One of their better fruit sours.

Martin House Puppy Chow Lactose Milk Stout with Powdered Sugar, Cocoa, Vanilla, Peanut Butter & Chex, 8.0% ABV; 3.57 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with a sliver of fast falling mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Vanilla, peanuts, cocoa, powdered sugar

T: Nut hulls, fairly bitter, cocoa, vanilla & Powdered Sugar dryness up front, plus lactose up front. Some peanuts, cocoa, & powdered sugar, plus dryness & a hint of bitter coffee once this beer is warm. Finishes with Chicory note, cocoa, peanuts & powdered sugar

MF: Medium body, light carbonation, thins out once warm

Shocked at the ABV on this, doesn't translate to the body or even flavor. Most beers with peanuts in them seem to taste a little to a lot fake, this is another. Wish this matched the nose
