I'm still looking forward to getting some once it hits Massachusetts. The last time I had it was at least 4 years ago so I'd have a pretty neutral frame of reference.

If you can, get some Bonehead Red from Fat Head's when it comes out... That is an imperial red done right and certainly won't be too sweet.

I'll keep an eye out - we get some of Fat Head's bottled beers around here.

Feeling a little better after a rough cold so I decided to pick up some cans to try alongside the bottles I have. Bottles are bb 4/20, cans are bb 4/25.

I have had much better luck with bottles the past few years, so I am shocked to report the canned NN I purchased is much better imo. It seems like a much brighter beer than the bottled version, really great classic NN hop flavor. The bottled beer is still enjoyable, the canned one just seems to pop more. I’m going to pick up another 12 pack.

I still can’t seem to pick up much aroma from either, but I’m still blaming this cold. I can’t seem to smell much of anything lately. Anyway, pleasantly surprised with this batch of cans.

Well, there goes the theory that buying the bottled version increases your chances of obtaining a good batch.

Buying Nugget Nectar with the hope of getting a 'good' batch is like playing:

Finally was able to grab a couple 4-packs. No bottles available. BB Date 4/25.

I agree that the aroma is surprisingly muted. I'm not sure if that's always been the case or what.

The flavor is excellent. Extremely hoppy and piney with a fair amount of citrus. The malt adds a wave of caramel which really balances everything out. Disturbingly easy to drink. Slightly oily and dry.

For me this is definitely "a good batch", but I don't drink this beer regularly so I can't say I recall exactly how it was the last time I had it. But for what it's worth, it tastes great to me.

Nugget Nectar in the 'good old days' had a vibrant aroma. Maybe the 'new' but 'not improved' Nugget Nectar is different in this regard?

    Cheers!

Back in the day, I remember smelling Nugget Nectar from across the room. Just picked up my first 4-pack of the season, ready to see what this year’s is like.

I picked up a sixer of bottles, these are dated best by 4/26/24. Two bottles in and I'm happy with it - the aroma isn't super strong but it's a pleasant mix of citrus and dank pine. Taste is bright and hoppy, with a strong clean bitter finish to balanced the toasted malt flavor.

I've definitely experienced some perceived variation over the years, but I think there are way too many factors into how you experience beer to think we think we can accurately remember exactly how a beer smelled or tasted 10+ years ago.

While there are a ton of NEIPA's that are brewed with an emphasis on intense hop aromas, the vast majority of them fall short in other areas for my personal tastes. Beers like NN are much more drinkable to me.

I drank my first one this week, I always love the interplay between malt and hops in this beer. It is also always such a a beauty to look at too.

Double NN is coming soon. Local shop thinks this Wednesday. According to Troegs website, DNN was released (taproom ?) at Xmas.
Distribution has been weird. Two years ago, a fiasco. Then last year they righted the ship. Me and a buddy have been on the QT for the last two weeks.
Hope there's no variation downturn; last year, this was in the top 3 beers I had. Can't wait. May have to break fast (damp January) depending on what day I cop some.

Picked up a six pack tonight for $13.99 over a four-pack for $15.99. Tastes good but not exceptional, as has been my experience.

Double Blizzard is released around Christmas. Double Nugget Nectar draft will start appearing at some First Squeeze events this week. Double NN cans start shipping this coming Tuesday, and will go on sale as soon as wholesalers get the beer in.

Double Blizzard comes out before Christmas and I started seeing it everywhere right at the end of Nov./beginning of Dec. and it's been sitting on the shelves long enough now that I have seen singles in the mix a six sections already; it seems to come out earlier by a few weeks every year.

Taste and bitterness better than last year, aroma hardly noticeable. I hate to say this, but it’s basically as good as the house amber ale you’d find at any decent chain: Iron Hill, Yard House, etc. My hopes are high for Double NN, though, hope to see it soon.
