Just to clarify, you are drinking warm Budweisers and your friends are drinking cold ones? I've always experienced extra bitterness at warmer temps for the light lager types of beers. If the beer wasn't bitter to you when you drank it cold but now it's bitter when it's warm, there's your answer.

Just shake a little salt from a salt shaker and stir if you want. Caution - it will cause the beer to foam and could spill out of your glass. A salty flavor will result if you use too much.

The salt provides nucleation points for the CO2 to be expelled from the beer while neutralizing the bitterness. You're left with a flat beer that has a salty taste, depending on how much salt you add.

As I mentioned above, I get more bitterness from a warm light lager rather than a cold one (or even an IPA), but I agree with you for the sweetness being greater when warm, so tastes can vary from person to person.

I would just embrace the bitterness and start drinking IPAs

So far this might be my nominee for best thread of 2024. This and the “Why do people like IPAs” one, of course.

Thank you everyone for adding your valuable suggestions and guiding me the best. I will multi-quote most of the post for quick updates.

No, it's not warm neither it's chilled. I would say it's cold but I am used to drink beers, the exact same brand directly after taking it out of the refrigerator. Yes, I am thinking of adding some ice in my next experiment..

Unfortunately, I belong from Asia/India and I strongly believe we don't have that one available here :slight_frown:

Haha! Five years ago I was into it but someday I bought an Orange flavored Vodka and since then I felt so bad about it that every time I think of it, I feel like puking x

Hmm! Since childhood I was never appointed or prescribed for having sinus issues but lately whenever I am in direct sunlight, I get headache ++ nasal congestion is also a thing in my life (these are just my own thoughts, never went to a doctor for this)

I am not sure how I can explain the bitterness...It's just tastes bitter when I consume. Even previous year (Feb-March), the taste was like barley/wheat which is one of the main ingredient of Budweiser (Magnum, thanks to @jesskidden for sharing the brands in details)..Like when I consumed it, the bitter taste never used to annoy me or made my tongue yuck.

Possible enough. I am also thinking of the same..Next day I will somehow arrange a chilled beer and check if there is any difference..

No, it's Budweiser Magnum. The AB Budweiser one.

Same here! I wish that day when I saw them mixing it on the pub, I should have asked about it.It completely removed the foam as when they were mixing it, a lot of foam just looped out of it.Now I am thinking if it was salt :/

Thank you for sharing the link ^_^

In India, the more you pay the less bitterness you get in your beers. There are many low brands available around which tastes more bitter (also have to consider the fact that low priced beers which tastes bitter has more % of alcohol)

What is that? I would love to know more about it.

It's safe. It's a well known high standard pub especially for the rich (youngsters) haha! Even though I don't belong to the high society but a few years back I went there with one of my pal on my way back from the mall. I have went to that pub only once (twice, next time I didn't drink beers) but could never forget that taste. Those days I was not working so parents were the source of my pocket money but now going there feels like more kind of a waste of money. Other than that particular pub I never saw anywhere they mixing that powder because everywhere they serves in sealed bottles but in that particular pub they were opening the sealed bottles, pouring it in a big jug, mixing the powder, stirred it which made a huge foam that they removed and then serving in small beer glasses/jugs (It's more like a house beer as they call it I believe)

I wish I should have but I thought doing some google search could easily help me figure it out :stuck_out_tongue:

No, we all got the same cold beer (once again not chilled).
I will definitely try using the salt this weekend to check how it tastes. I have noted down the above but maybe a little more details can help me further to understand it accurately.
    a) Which salt to use? Is it the normal salt that we use for cooking or black salt?
    b) How many tea spoon of salt, uhh maybe for 500ml, how much salt should I use?

Hahaha! Can be, because once you drink that beer you can't stop. Normally at home 2-3 bottles (600ml) each gives me enough intoxication and I am full but over there I felt like drinking more and more..

According to a variety of internet sources, the so-called Budweiser Magnum sold in India is an 8% abv "strong beer" although there appears to also be versions at 6.5% and 7.5% - so it is not the AB-brewed "Budweiser" that most of the BA's who replied above are familiar with.
(There's even a Budweiser Magnum Double Barrel Whisky :grimacing:).

If you find the version that you're drinking too bitter, I'd suggest finding another beer or alcoholic beverage that fits your preferences better rather than adding something (or trying to somehow "remove" bitterness) to a beer you don't like.

That may sound snarky to some - just makes sense to me.

Maybe try mixing that bud magnum with something? A quick Google search revealed a lemonade drink that is popular in India, nimbu pani. Mix that with the beer. It's called a Shandy in the USA. The sweetness from the lemonade will help hide the bitterness.

It's just white table salt or likely what you refer to as normal salt. Depending on how big the holes are in your salt shaker, just start low with one shake for a pint glass of beer. See what the reaction is and experience the taste and add more if you choose. I don't do this myself but have done it years ago just to experience it. Everyone needs to do it once to decide for themselves if it's any good.

...perhaps the powder the OP refers to is some type of polyethylene glycol (supposedly helps to mask bitterness)...

...but, why go through that trouble of masking bitterness in Budweiser...???...switch to Bud Light for beer (there's the king of 'no taste' beer ) or take up wine drinking...

Some people claim the salt is used to a) kill the head or b) revive the head of a flat glass of beer <that's what Anheuser Busch said (Below).
(Contradictory? Sure. But someone else can do the science on this one
   ).

I recall going out with relatives in the late 1970s in upstate NY, likely drinking draught Pabst Blue Ribbon (they all called it just "Blue") where most everyone shook some salt into their glass. Playing pool, I grabbed the wrong glass at one point and did experience the primary thing salt does to beer (agreeing with AB for once):
    c) It makes beer taste salty.

Hmm. An 8% pale lager made by the biggest industrial brewer in the world -- what could possibly be wrong about choosing that for a pleasant libation?

Life's too short to drink bad beer. Find something better.

@nick199 - The above is probably the best way of approaching this. I would avoid adding anything to your beer. If the temperature of the beer is the actual issue in this case, then this is because the cold dulls the flavors. If this isn't the cause of your situation, then perhaps you should consider telling your doctor. If you drink the non-chilled beer more and more, you might get used to it and might no longer have a problem with the bitterness. You might even begin to appreciate it. Try a Miller High Life or a Hoegaarden and see if you prefer it over the Bud Magnum.

This weekend I will try something new and will update later. Budweiser Magnum/Premium is quite a well known top brand in India beside Carlsberg/Heineken/Tuborg. There are other premium beers like Corona/ Hoegaarden but those kind of feels non alcoholic haha. ++I think I found the reason behind the difference in taste (maybe or maybe not) and it's that I always used to drink Budweiser Magnum beer cans not bottles..Will also grab a Budweiser Magnum beer can if I really spot any difference :stuck_out_tongue:

Aw Yes! Nimbu Pani is quite a popular drink in India although the one that you saw is Lemon one which is more kind of referred to as nimbu pani (not the lemonade one). I have so many things to try this weekend and I am quite excited about it :grinning:

Added this on my list as well! Will update you as well after I try it.

I have to go to the Mall and check out which are the best available. Actually was quite addicted to Budweiser and hence never bothered to go and pick up something else. But now it seems like I need to make a change.

Plans for this weekend is to grab the beer and directly head home so that I can consume it chilled haha! Hoegaarden is one my top favorite but unfortunately the Mall only keeps the smallest one which is 250ml as the price is quite high.

As for the op, find somewhere that sells stone ruination and just demolish three of them. Trust me you’ll love it!
