Update they fully refunded. Still bummed I won’t be able to try a lot of the beers though! All well they did their best
Yeah cans were all destroyed. The bottles have huge chunks of ice and even some of them exploded. Never seen anything like it before, but sadly frozen beer ruins the profile. Guess they are all eisbock now? LOL
Waiting for a box, now you've made me nervous! Though it left Tavour nine days ago & is only supposed to reach my local delivery service tomorrow. Tempted to email & ask which wagon train it's traveling on...
I got the dreaded “delayed delivery” during this voyage, maybe that was the issue? I have never had this happen before in years of shipping beer orders
What is the delivery process when the box leaves Tavour? Are there several legs in the journey?. Are any big names involved (FX ,UPS) , I dont have the service where i live , but interested in the different carriers they use and where the drop off is for each leg, I thinking how does it differ when we do a trade between each other?
Deliveries here are through GLS. Seamless every single time. Most end up delivering the day after shipment. Never had a delay, and never had a broken bottle or can. The wide range of carriers appears to be the source of variation in experiences.
I think y'all should stop complaining about Tavour and be happy they service your areas Seriously though I wish they would start here in my area. I have very few options
Thanks… Was curious to its journey VS the way we ship with each other and one carrier (Postal,UPS FX)
Well, I had a box go awry during my last Tavour shipment & after asking six or seven times for a tracking number on the long leg of the journey, they wouldn't or couldn't provide one, nor would they tell me the carrier. No idea why the secrecy, but during hundreds of trades in 15 years in all kinds of weather, it's never taken ten days for a box to cross the country. It's a mystery...
Happy to hear they made it right. I understand the disappointment, but it does seem like it was beyond their control.
About a month ago Tavour notified me that they can finally ship to my state so I started a crate which I'm waiting for delivery on now. The email notification says local delivery is to be handled by United Parcel Service. Does that seem right? I was under the impression that Tavour had to use very boutique local delivery services. If UPS can deliver the beer why did it take so long to become available in my area?
...I'm not a logistics person, but I see GLS utilizes 'partnership' deliveries services to effect delivery of packages...from the article, it seems GLS is primarily a western states entity and relies on third-party carrier networks the further east a delivery needs to go to... ...I assume it boils down to transportation and delivery cost benefits associated with carriers using their assets to fullest capacities...the rub is keeping the different tracking systems from all carriers involved in sync as far as keeping tabs on a package's whereabouts... ...I notice the same thing happening with, say, USPS being the 'final carrier' when delivering music, books, or other items I order from various places that originally shipped with DHL or FedEx tracking numbers...logistics voodoo...
Okay, now the tracking page says its been handed off to the local delivery service but the tracking number doesn't look like a UPS tracking number. It starts with NANO- rather than 1Z. Anybody seen this before? (Sorry to ask such me specific questions. I can find so little documentation of Tavour shipping online. I don't understand why they are so opaque.)
Fed _Ex is SmartPost and UPS is Sure post . They both drop off packages in larger quantities to the post office zip code closest to yopu address and then are delivered on routes to your home , most are deemed non urgent and lower cost shipping to UPS/FedEx. Once there tracking usually stops with the destination last address of the Post Office.
FWIW the beer did get here today. Tavour support was pretty responsive over email. According to them the tracking page had not been updated to reflect the new carrier.
Any feedback on the freshness of ordering IPAs through Tavor? I’ve only stuck to stouts and sours but every once in a while I’m tempted to pull the trigger on an IPA. Anyone know if they are stored cold and shipped fresh? Thx
