Sucks, I think the intervention of Covid really messed them up, before they had been "a thing" and I even got their beer in Salem taphouses.

You can't always blame Covid. They were always the forgotten about brewery in Astoria. Now with the addition of Obelisk and Breakside they probably got even way less business. Their beers also weren't that good the few times I visited them.

What beer was that? Maybe their sour/wild ales were still really good, but I dont drink that style much anymore. I just recall the last IPAs I had from them weren't good. Hard to compete with Fort George a block away and Bridge & Tunnel across the street when the most popular beer style isn't good from you. The place was very quiet on my last 2 summer visits.

Whoops. I went to do my research on this and realized I had them confused with Public Coast in Cannon Beach. My bad. Wah wah.

On the positive side, I was reminded that Portland brewery BTU Brasserie won a GABF medal in 2017. There's one that many will not remember!

Solid beers, but I liked their cooking a lot more than their brewing.

Looks like they won a Bronze at GABF in the pumpkin/squash beer category.

Looks like Von Ebert bought Ecliptic's NE Portland brewery/restaurant.

    From Oregon Live:
"Embarking on a major expansion, Von Ebert Brewing has purchased Ecliptic Brewing’s North Portland production facility and taproom, aiming to grow from producing 4,000 barrels annually to potentially 20,000, with a significant boost in distribution."

(As for Ecliptic's Moon Room, it looks like Bauman's Cider is picking up the lease and will have production and a tasting room there.)

    Gold Dot beer in cans!

From the new Gold Dot newsletter:
"Saturday January 27th at the Heater Allen Tap Room we will have Helles Lager, Stagger & Jags Cold IPA, and Blue Label Dark Lager available in 16oz cans. We will also be pouring beer on draft, giving tours of the new cellar, and our friends Becky and Scott will be slinging pastor, birria, and mushroom tacos. Hours will be our typical Saturday Tap Room hours: noon-6pm."

So Gigantic is canning now? I guess I missed that memo. Kolschtastic cans are at Uptown now. @jason_nwx, don't buy them out.

I started a “beer deals” thread years ago, but I’m guessing it got closed.

Anyhoo, a couple good deals I’ve run across in Portland.

Philadelphias in sellwood has normal pints for $6, but their happy hour(Tues-Fri 3-6pm) knocks $2.50 off, so only $3.50!. Tap list isnt spectacular, but pretty solid (Breakside,Deschutes, OR CITY brewing, Ft George, etc). Cheesesteaks are also awesome imo

Providore market on NE Sandy. Super upscale market, and most everything in there is expensive. However they have a beer and wine bar. Pints are $5, and during happy hour pints are $4. Tap list is small but they usually have some very good/interesting things on tap

Probably, but that's no reason not to start a new, similar thread in 2024. Personally, I think it's a great idea (as I like a good deal as much as the next guy - and they're getting increasingly difficult to find).

Just my two cents. You should do whatever you want of course, but I think it's a great idea!!!

El Segundo Power Plant TIPA and Nuclear Power Plant QIPA are already on the shelves in SoCal. I am hoping we get some of that Power Plant goodness on our shelves soon.
