Grizzly Bear is straight booze. Not a bad beer, but damn was lunchtime on a Sunday at the brewery the wrong time for it haha

One of my friends made that same mistake today. I tried a sip, didn't like it at all. Straight booze bomb and thin. It might be better with a bit of age on it, maybe.

I'm guessing the brewers agreed that Grizzly Bear was gonna be too hot for most and that's why they kept just a few kegs, with the rest going into BB Barrel Blend instead of wax tops.

Anybody who didn't grab some Big Bear Coffee last batch should definitely go for it this time. Huge step up from regular Bear w/ Coffee.

Anyone on here tried the 3 different currently available iterations of Vanilla bean Truth? I can't imagine there being much of a difference in them? I only picked up the OG (yet to try).

How about double double flip? Really looking forward to that one

Drinking VB truth now. I think they use the same stout recipe as Fox Farm. This tastes shockingly similar to this year’s Witch Meadow (no vanilla in that).

Sorry, posted a semi review in the stout thread in ‘Beer Talk’.
It’s good. Definitely a slow sipper over a couple hours. Not too much vanilla, which a lot of brewers do. Straight motor oil. A lot of people will like that these days, but I like stouts a little bit thinner (BCBS). An 8oz pour is ideal because of how rich and decadent it is, so sharing the 500ml bottle with someone is a great idea. Really wish they would put the abv on these big beers. I don’t understand why that is, or how that’s legal @DigitalNate

Overall it’s very good. I had Fundamental Observation a couple weeks ago and they’re very different, but both very enjoyable

Free slice of pizza at Sandwich this weekend. Promo to introduce their pizza "program" there.

It is actually not legally required to put the ABV on a beer label, but if you do, it has to be accurate to within one percentage point. Seems silly, but for a good read on this, google dogfish head's battle with the labeling of world wide stout. This seems to help out the smaller breweries who may not have the equipment to be that accurate, but you and I both know Nate most certainly has the equipment to accurately gauge ABV.

Interesting. I think in CT, calories and/or nutrition facts for food need to be listed. Interesting that abv does not

    Nutrition on the beer?

Toppling Goliath were always the kings of never putting abv on a beer. Pun intended

Nutrition on food items. Like if you go to a restaurant they have the calories on the menu. Not sure about all the nutrition facts, but I think they need to be available somehow

I wish I took a picture but I vaguely remember when TH opened in the smaller building in Tewksbury, they had beer calories on the menu for a few days.

Or it was just a fever dream. Either is possible really.

They did have them, but never got a straight answer why. I actually ended up being told it was an accident, so no idea. They did just disappear from those old paper menus one day. What I did see(and always knew) is 3 or so of the bigger ipas or stouts and you’re cruising well over 1,000 calories

Federal rules (FDA) require chain establishments with 20 or more locations to post calorie counts on menus and menu displays. Maybe TH was confused and thought they had to do it too. AFAIK both MA and CT do not have separate guidelines, they follow the Feds.

I wish more breweries would use the pull tabs that SP uses with waxed bottles. Also, pop a cork in there as well, like FF does with some of their open ferm bottles. Both should be standard, imo

The only corks I'll accept are the champagne style ones. Fuck having to use a corkscrew to get to my beer

FF used the best wax on Copestone for the most recent release. It's like silly puddy and you could probably open it without cutting any away.

Not sure how long they've been doing this but I noticed the site labels all the "New" releases on the online menu. Definitely a positive change.

I noticed it about a week ago I think. Haven't figured out if it's ALL of the recently brewed options or just the new beer names.
