Given the overwhelming success of Sybris at 2023 DLD look for them to go full alternative with the bands this year and relegate metal to the brewpub stage.

Looks like Deicide and Soilent Green won't be happening. They're both playing Milwaukee Metal Fest that day. Maybe we'll get I Am Morbid playing Altars of Madness. That'd be pretty bad ass.

Don't hold your breath. They haven’t played since Riley died in 2020. I don't expect them to ever again. Fugitive unexpectedly played a few Power Trip songs at a live show a month or so ago and it's the first time since he died. The foundation run by Riley's family was not happy. There are lawyers involved (there already were). It all sounds pretty messy.

When they had to cancel DLD in 2019 I was really disappointed. Was going to be my first time seeing them. Didn't know it was going to be my only chance.

Sounds like the suit was settled out of court at the end of Dec. 2023.

Interesting. Last I read in early Dec it was ongoing, and after the foundation was upset about Fugitive surprise playing some Power Trip songs live on 12/2, I figured it would get even more drawn out. Hopefully it's amicable and everyone can move forward. Is this an article you read, or you pulling court docs? Curious as to what was decided.

I was listening to/watching the Garza podcast last night (something I've recently discovered). Particularly the one with Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation. What a great conversation that made boring house chores pretty enjoyable. Multiple beers helped too.

Anywho, Travis made a comment about how he loves Three Floyd's beer during the conversation and noted he was a little hung over because he was drinking the FFF beer he brought back home to CA from their tour. They also happen to be playing Chicago on May 18. While I doubt they'd do 2 shows in a day in the midst of a tour, that would be SO bad ass if they played DLD.

EDIT: I discovered this podcast because the episode with Glen Benton from Deicide popped up on my YouTube feed. Another great, long form conversation. As anticipated, kind of a wild dude. Highly recommended if your into them and the early FL death metal scene.

What if they scheduled that day because they want to just attend DLD?

It's funny how there are some killer brutal metal bands that are just so down to earth and they have two personalities. Take slayer for instance, you would think they are atheists and just plain hateful misanthropes and just over all terrifying people. In fact they are the opposite. Well I'll speak for Tom araya for this example.

Then you got Glen Benton. The dude just looks terrifying and their songs they hold as truthful opinions. I mean the dude has an inverted cross burnt into his forehead. lol

Exactly why I was interested to hear him interviewed in long form. He said that he wrote Dead by Dawn on an acoustic watching the Beverly Hillbillies. It's worth a watch.

Luckily Baller Stout was for the brewery's 15th anniversary not for DLD...

Oh I remember. That was my first year for DLD and after attending that, then the anniversary party and buying 2 Baller Stout bottles I had to reassess some shit in my life.

Ok but did you ever have Murda'd Out Stout? One of the best beers they ever did.

    I have not.

I've never been impressed with any Dark Lord variants either, while we're sorta on the topic. I've had a Marshmallow Handjob 3-4 times and it's fine. Regular BA Dark Lord is also fine, various others on tap throughout the years too.
But their price tags are absurd to me.

Conversely I've enjoyed their 4pack BA offerings immensely.

Personally, I don’t think I’d really enjoy a marshmallow handjob either. It would leave me very sticky. I think lotion would be much more practical.
