Werewolfs are monsters... Maybe the name more than label style is the new indicator?

Thanks, link works, and it is definitely Monster! The name was a super obvious clue, I'll chalk up my ignoring it to wishful thinking and Monster already having its time to shine with Vanilla. The other bases need some Vanilla love too!

Got through all of my 2023 beer finally. So ready for my top 5(or 6) list.

1(or 1/2) Distiller's Box - I kind of like to treat the Distiller's Box as a single complete release based on how much I liked it overall. Demon Water was by far my favorite beer of the year and The Malt Mill was my second. I probably wouldn't have put Fireproof and Forgotten Lore in a top 5 list if I separated them out from the box but they were both very good and I still rated them 5 stars in Untapped. If this box ever goes back on sale I would buy another in a heartbeat. Kind of funny to me because I had no interest and didn't buy the 2022 barrel box. I think partnering with distillers The Bruery wanted to work with and just focusing on making great beers was the winning strategy (not just to solely try to find different and unique barrels for each one).

2 (or 3) Notorious F.I.G. - This was another surprise for me. I'm not usually a big fan of the anniversary ales but these particular adjuncts came together in a very nice way. Looking forward to the 2024 DBA version of this.

The next 5 were all pretty close together so I think I would need to do another side by side to hone this to be more precise, but based on memory I am going to say

3 (or 4) Night Shift - usually I find the wine themed beers to be too close to wine and not "beery" enough. This was beer with the right amount of a wine spin.

4 (or 5) So You Liked Dem Coconuts? - Nothing surprising or novel here. Just really good execution of the style.

5 (or 6) A Red Sun Rises - Again, nothing novel or surprising just a very nice fruity stout {would love to try to get another one of these to do a side by side with the Berry Shortstacks)

Honorable Mention: Hoarder's Cuvee, Fat Twosday

I just wanted to put this out there, I too was unaware of the change from Mr. Daisy to not having a distribution point in DC anymore. The Bruery was great and they shipped my cellar beer for free.

My box just shipped today. It was almost 2 weeks from when I ordered. Still no delivery date in the tracking info. I think this was longest delay since they started shipping nationally, so hopefully just a temporary blip.

Never posted my top 5 from 2023, but since it's still a thing, here goes:

    1. One & Dunn Grand Reserve - Phenomenal. Incredible depth, insanely rich, distinctive rye character, boozy in the best way, seems ridiculous to call something like this balanced, but… it’s very well balanced

    2. Demon Water - As with DrunkTroi, the whole Distiller's Box was emphatically my thing, but this was clearly the best of those. Malt Mill and Forgotten Lore also pretty great. Fireproof is fine, but that Bayonet base is maybe a bit too Thicc for my tastes...

    3. Mélange à Trois - My favorite of the included bottles, and a nice blend for sure. I think I still prefer Melange #3 or Thr3e, but this is up there.

    4. Come Together - I enjoyed the entire Belgian collection or whatever it was called, and I seemed to like this a lot more than most.

    5. So You Liked Dem Coconuts? - I maintain that having two coconut stouts in the included RS lineup is a bit much, but this one was well done.

I'm obviously one of those guys who tends to prefer less of the wacky ingredients/treatments so this year's included RS lineup was... disappointing.

Honorable Mention & non-2023 releases drank in 2023: Fruet (man, those older Anny beers were sooo good, still love the newer ones and Cristal was fine, but those older ones were more approachable and complex), Vanilla Villain Reserve (looking forward to that Werewolf beer for sure), Fat Twosday (a bit heavy handed with cinnamon, but I liked it a lot), Pass the Yams (a worthy successor to Autumn Maple), Strange Case of Dr. Elijah And Mr. Cacao (great Cacao character and more approachable than Chocolate Reign, though I liked that one too), and Black Tuesday (duh)

Saw this on an Untappd facebook post:

Roses are red. Stouts are black.
    Pre-order Now: a Phase Three Valentine’s 3-Pack.
We are super excited to announce the Phase Three: Flowers & Chocolate Bundle, releasing exclusively in the Untappd Shop.
Featuring three highly-rated @phasethreebrew beers (with two being next-level collabs), this 3-pack is now available for pre-sale.
    The Beers:
    1. Curvy Tuesday (collab w/ @thebruery): whiskey barrel-aged donut-inspired imperial stout w/ coconut, chocolate, and vanilla—13% ABV
    2. Black Bouquet (collab w/ @blackstackbrewing): DDH DIPA with Mosaic, Talus, Idaho 7, and Strata—8% ABV
    3. Curvature 15: imperial stout w/ peanut butter & marshmallow—11.9% ABV

I'd get it but can't ship to either MD or NJ

13% must mean SHIT base? Unless they blended BT with one of theirs?

Still a newb at shipping and doing it efficiently over on the east coast.

The Bruery told me it was 7-15 bottles = $30 (I.e. still 30 past 12). Does that jive with what folks are seeing?

I think it was ernh or stealth who had 29 bottles plus glasses for almost 80 (so 30 + 30 + 14 + tax). Seems to work out?

anyone have experience with mixing in cans and the 375 ml bottles? I am guessing 2 cans = 1 750 ml cause you can stack 2 in the same space? 1 375 takes up same space as 750 though?

That was Stealth, but I can share what I've observed in how they do shipping...

For awhile last year they had 15 bottle boxes, I don't know if they still do or if they've gone back to 12.

    375ml take up a full 750ml slot.

Single cans also take up a full 750ml slot, so 4-packs eat up space real quick. I've seen them put a single 4-pack in loose this way, but 2+ packs and they use a separate box for cans (and thus a separate box charge)... UNTIL recently! They now have box inserts that can hold 6 4-packs vertically. They replace the inserts for 6 750ml bottles... meaning a 12-bottle shipper can hold 6 bottles and 24 cans.

What I don't know is if the weight of that forces them to charge more than the $30 they would charge for a 12 box with 12 bottles. I don't know if their main cost driver is weight, materials, or labor.

Merchandise has always been a wild card. They've often been happy to cram it into bottle shippers to save money... but it depends on size. With glassware, imagine the glass, plus at least some bubble wrap... is the girth of that more than a 750ml bottle? If so, then it probably can't go in a bottle shipper and needs its own merch shipper.

note: shouldn't be tax charged on shipping typically, but who knows what weird laws different states have.

    That's wild! haha

    (Also: thanks for the info!)

I did recently receive a box that had 12 compartments but I had less than 12 bottles in my order. Maybe the are using both 12 and 15 depending on the order?

They used to have 9 bottle boxes but I wonder if they're just doing 6 and 12 now to streamline supply ordering?

Maybe they had 15's and are phasing out for the same reason?

I am planning on trying to ship exactly 15 items (combo of different sizes) when the Feb allocations come out so can see if it comes in at $30 and how it is shipped packaging wise.

Check out emails and socials for the "Crafted by Society" initiative(?)

Looks fun but a little disappointed it is going to be non-barrel aged. Hoping they will reserve some to age and release it again at a later time.

Can we just write in, "Autumn Maple"?

I guess it depends what elements we get to vote on? The barrel program has taken center stage for a long time... But they've made some killer non-BA over the years.

A session version of Mischief could be cool... Maybe take the Petite table beer and dump some Citra in?
