Porter Appreciation Thread (2024)

Having an Old Ox Black Ox. Just an everyday nice drinking porter with some rye notes. My favorite locally brewed porter since Haxan stopped getting decent distro.

 

Coffee Porter from Real Ale Brewing. Malty, light roast and fruity coffee. An easy drinking, tasty Porter.

 

As I've seen a couple of other baltic porters dropped in here, I figured I'd share as well:
Jack's Abby BA Framinghammer.

Huge flavor, true to its base Framinghammer roots, and just maybe the easiest-drinking BA beer I've ever had. I'm not a big fan of overly sweet beers (outside of the occasional breakfast beer), and this one really hits the spot with a good balance between sweet, roast, and char, and it doesn't hit you over the head with an alcohol kick either.

 

I had to try this one. Curiosity got the best of me. Drinkable. It’s like putting a big squeeze of Hersheys syrup into a porter. They don’t meld at all. One and done.

 

I'm really a stout guy, porters just don't quite have it.....

 

I'm a stout guy too, but sometimes I think porters have the edge. They're the refreshing, sessionable stout!

Stopprd at my favorite dive bar after a grocery run, beer on left is Goose Bananas Foster, a disaster from the get go, on the right, Deschutes Black Butte XXVIII (2016), Xcellent, and works fine as a palate cleanser.....

 

This is a nicely done peanut butter Porter from King's Court. Subtle peanut butter with a touch of chocolate from the malt base, very balanced. Thanks @Mikexw for the opportunity to try!

I've never seen that one or even heard of it. I'll have to look for it. I see that it's brewed with maple syrup, so that should make it extra interesting.
