For the circles I ran in back than it was Golden or Canadian, the Ice was brutal and migraine inducing. Golden was king for awhile than Canadian appeared and overnight it seemed the formula that was Golden became Canadian and we all switched as initially Canadian was in green glass and Golden in brown and then it seemed to us that the glass color and formula switched. Than Canadian was king and Golden was meh. Meanwhile I haven't had Molson in awhile but I'd still enjoy over Labatt which really hit the skids compared to 35 yrs ago IMO.

If I could go back in time I'd want to go back to when Young's Brewing and the Ram Brewery were still around pre merger w/Wells which was later bought out. I so enjoyed many of their beers and they really were a big influence on my early beer style explorations I also found them overall superior to Sam Smiths...RIP Old Nick, Young's Oatmeal Stout and Young's RamRod.
Just not the same after the merge and the only beer that remained with distro was Double Chocolate which was always just ok IMO.

Before I was of legal drinking age, me and the boys were all bout greenn bottles: Moosehead, Molson Golden and Ice, and Heineken and for a little St. Pauli Girl. Then again in PA at the time you had to purchase by the case at a distributor so skunking was always a worry.

If I had the opportunity to summon a beer genie, I'd ask for a hefty cache of Young's Oatmeal Stout and travel back to this morning and wait until the drinking spirt strikes me.

Yeah I got to drink with Pete, and on his tab, when they rebranded and relaunched their lager. The "wicked" really helped with brand recognition in Pete's Wicked Ale so they changed the Gold Coast Lager to Pete's Wicked Lager. Still have my shirt from the campaign "Born Wicked" surgical scrub style shirt.

A buddy worked for the company. We gathered and the Goathill Tavern in Costa Mesa (one of the earliest bars that embraced all things craft in SoCal) and after ordering a few pitchers of Pete's products he chastised us, "Hey stop ordering our stuff, they have so many great beers here. Order something else!"

    Good times.

We liked a little skunking, thought it was what made it "better" than the usual Miller, Stroh's, Lowenbrau, Bud, etc... Plus we liked the hint of weed.

Young's Ramrod was one of our exciting, very dear, pitchers at the pub I mentioned in my Pete's story.

There's a big difference in perceived sourness between 3.4 pH and 3.6 pH.

Beer at the Last Supper would have had equally far-ranging effects, vis-a-vis the Eucharist, although it's easier to imagine wine as blood than beer . . .

Good point. I just looked it up and there are 220 references to wine in the Bible—which makes sense given the Mediterranean setting. But imagine if the action had taken place a bit farther north, where grain was more plentiful than fruit, and the most widely read book in the world contained 220 references to beer instead. I think it would have had a huge cultural impact.

Absolutely, and the visual consistency of the wine = blood made it easier for the masses to (and I am not saying this with any disrect to beliefs) accept.
I can imagine that if it was in Flanders, we could find a red hued beer.

I'd be curious to experience the evolution of adjuncts in lagers over the last 100'ish years. From the rice lagers in northern Germany, through early American adjuncts, through Prohibition and all the way through the 60's and 70's. I know a bunch of places have made supposed throwback attempts at those beers, but I question the authenticity of most.

I'd love to go back and try Andeker in its prime on draft.....also wouldn't turn down a Watney's Cream stout at its apex.
