So I got in a little over my head trading too much at once and shipped out 3 trades today. I labeled all the boxes and I still managed to mix up several of the boxes and shipped the wrong boxes to 2 different people. I feel terrible about it. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I contacted both people and let them know and I asked them to not open the boxes they receive and to take them to UPS or Fedex and reship them on to the correct person and I will Paypal or mail them a check to pay for it. Is this the right thing to do? Anything else I should do?

    Thanks for the help!

It has not happened to me, but good on you being proactive and letting your trading partners know beforehand. I would only hope a potential trading partner of mine, or me if I erred in this way, would have such foresight.

Did they already get them? Call your shipper and re-route the packages.

I can do that? I shipped them UPS this morning so they definitely have not gotten them. How do I do that?

Advice: Emailing them a new shipping label will probably be simpler. (Instead of printing from Fedex, just save the label as a PDF then attach it to an email.)

Curiosity question: how do you know you mixed up the boxes?

More Advice / an answer to your question: No. I generally try not to have more than one trade in discussion at a time, but sometimes fail. I try never to ship out more than one box in a day. On the one or two times I've shipped two boxes in a day I was very careful to pack one, print the label, double check the contents, seal the box and attach the label; then repeat for box #2.

I know because one trade was getting 2 boxes and the other was getting just a small box. When I went to send them the tracking numbers tonight I noticed that I had 2 tracking numbers for the guy getting just the one small box and the guy getting the 2 boxes I had a tracking number for the cheapest box I sent.

Emailing them a new one is a good idea!!! I will try that if I cannot reroute. Thanks for the advice! I think I need to start printing my labels at home...that should help!

Idk about UPS but I'm pretty sure with FedEx you can reroute it especially after the first day. I believe it's $11 a package but it beats having to pay shipping on 3 separate boxes once they land. I may be completely wrong though about the price.

Getting a Fedex account and printing labels at home is a really good idea for multiple reasons. As you've seen, it can help avoid confusion about who you are sending what to. But, it'll also be about 10% cheaper and you can avoid any pesky questions from the staff about what's inside the boxes.

I don't know with UPS but with Fedex you can call and just navigate through the menus to talk to someone about rerouting the package.

I had to re-route on FedEx once and it was one of the more needlessly complicated exercises I've ever had. It may just be easier to ship them labels and swap packages especially if they are halfway close and the cost/time won't be much.

I had it happen once and it cost me $$$ cause I didn't find out until they landed. Funny thing is one of the boxes had crazy great stuff, and the guy who got it was so psyched, then so disappointed.

I am guilty of swapping labels on 2 boxes. I didnt find out unitl I got a BM asking WTF did I send him. But other than that My trading partners were understanding and I just emailed new labels and everything was good in the end

I don't know how I haven't done this. I usually try to do 2-3 boxes at a time for packing efficiency, so the swapping is always an in-play possibility.

Definitely call Fedex and re-route both boxes.

I once got a box without any extras. It couldn't have been mine.

Note to self "do not trade with azaaron ". J/K. Shit happens. You're trying to do the right thing and I'm sure your trading partners will be understanding, at least they should be. You'll get it worked out, don't sweat it

Never done it with a full package, but I swapped extras one time. I'm sure the guy from Michigan was really happy to see FBS, Old Curmudgeon and KBS.

Good luck getting the package rerouted! I've packaged multiple boxes in a row before (interestingly, the last time I double packed, one recipient was azaaron) but I just double check everything right before I seal it up. It also gives me time to remember to put that extra Fedex label in the box!

I've definitely done it...but I didn't realize it until the first gentlemen got ahold of me and was like "Umm". I simply did the ole PDF trick, emailed him the new label and he sent out the box. It took an extra week or so, but no harm other than an extra $40 out of my pocket.
