I definitely dig this year's Deth's tar and the beer has certainly come a long way to compete with modern stouts. Although I think the peak was 2021 vintage. I had one recently and it still has that bonkers level of vanillin that throws a big marshmallow vibe.
My rankings for last 5 years of Deth's Tar if anyone cares:
    1. 2021 - marshmallow
    2. 2020 - bourbon brownie batter
    4. 2019 - caramel/choc cherries
    2. 2022 - got sweeter and thicker this year. not bad, just missing some of the previous years' nuances.
    3. 2023 - good bourbon/stout balance, classic Deth, no one note stands out, but I gotta try it again.

I always thought 2021 Deth's Tar had a more prominent vanilla note than 2021 Vanilla Deth.

Is VSOR Select seriously still shelfing it up at most Binnys? I would be broke if I lived in Chicago.

As someone who just bought his 3rd 4 pack off the shelft today, yes it is.

Binnys definitely got the lion’s share of this beer.

Anybody’s Ryeway gushing when opened? I’ve had a few recently, but they still taste great

I had this happen to my last can of Lumberstruck a few weeks ago. I meant to mention it here, but forgot. In the interim, another friend of mine texted me and said a can of DB VSOJ he opened recently gushed everywhere. Both beers were fine, but they were major gushers like you sometimes see in infected beers - I'm not implying they were, rather just painting a picture. And it was not an overfill or anything that I noticed. Thankfully I opened mine in the kitchen right by the sink because it was everywhere.

Curious to hear reports about the new menu and any decor changes at the Brewpub. They swapped out a bunch of older menu items plus the HH specials (at least on the online menu. I will miss my Cold Time / Evans Williams Shot combo, but they have several interesting new menu items that sound really good..

At the taproom, I noticed they added a mid sized 10 oz snifter serving option for their non imperial beers. Five ounces seems too small for me even for DW beers, but the 10 oz glass is nice to explore an extra beer or two during a trip.

Hoping A Little Crazy pops up on draft over the next few weeks, I only have a few cans left.

Saw the same thing with DB VSOJ a few months back so I threw them all in the fridge. I'm due for a re-open.
Highly recommend the fridge for anyone else that has DB VSOJ laying around. Also, we all should probably just drink them soon.

How strange, the two I've had so far have been under carb'd I just assumed that was the intent.

I had a DBVSOJ that gushed a few days ago. Tasted fine, but I lost 1/3 of it on the counter unfortunately (reflexes aren't what they used to be..)

YES - and a few others! I didn't think I shook them up, but damn, big gushing - though all tasted GREAT!
I'm just sure to have the glass ready and open it over countertop and not carpet or wood.

I've opened so many Deepwoods cans since the format switch. Most likely every one they've released, and often multiple of each one. That Lumberstruck was the only one I've had that's been a gusher. Beer tasted totally fine though. It was definitely unexpected. Like @ejquin said I lost a good third of the can. Interesting to see lots of reports of the same thing with different beers. Curious to know what VSO Marty says the cause might be...

No gushers out of, um, a lot of Deep Wood cans. Literally none.

Same here. As others have said, I just have my glass ready. Never any issue with taste though.

For reference too, all of my cans are kept at 50ish degrees.

With the 12oz format, I'm surprised that I haven't seen a shotgun vid on any trade groups.

Why does one of the people in the background start moving before everything else does? Guy in the gray shirt behind the shirtless guy throwing the football.
