Tewksbury Saturdays(cold weather) are an evacuation disaster waiting to happen. Almost intolerable

You may well be correct. But it seems odd that Treehouse does so many different styles that likely aren’t great sellers in their own right and yet avoids stouts completely. I mean, they make Bear, which is a fairly straight foreword brown ale (which I love, by the by), but not a stout? Just seems odd to me.

I think the issue is Bear has been a core and beloved offering. There never was a core stout that they continued to push through time. Good morning craziness took over and from there splintered 100 different versions of adjunct/milk stouts as they seemed to sell well. They're still in this to be a profitable business. And while I think Danny Boy makes sense, I could see certain attributes of a say 5% ish stout not really appealing to the wider demographic that came up recently through hazy’s and “something” stouts. Stouts can be fickle with cigar, smoke, tabacco and what I think many would consider less desirable flavors. By no means saying I dislike this, but I can’t imagine my mom enjoying a 5.6% stout over a 7.8% milk stout with an adjunct. It’s essentially like offering people 96% cacao vs milk chocolate truffle. Some like the acquired taste, but not many. Speaking from someone who was a consultant to Lindt for a while ha

Was is it jammed? Glad we skipped it. We went to Brewery Silvaticus just after open, and it was quiet.

Wondering if you’ve been to Treehouse Woodstock(?) If you mentioned visiting, I missed it. Would cool to hear your opinion on the beer and location. I haven’t visited, maybe in the spring.

We’re definitely going to visit Woodstock but haven’t been. Yeah, Tewksbury was absurdly packed. A nice couple offered up the seats next to them for us to chat and ended up being the four of us actually all having worked/currently working for the same DOD company and having great convo so it worked out great. As breweries always seem to weirdly do. Outside of that random luck there wasn’t a seat to be had. If anyone has never been I’d say never skip. You can find somewhere to plop or stand. But I wouldn’t go there on a Saturday for food. Heard hour and a half wait on pizza. Our reason to stop was really just to stock up on coffee and split. Asked for Green Pineapple I love and kicked the keg. Gave me a small taster cup pour, I love that beer. So just ended up trying a pour of Julius Guava and loved it. Good stuff

Summer there with the outside opened up is fantastic.

I’ve been to Tewksbury once and enjoyed it. I think it was early October, a Saturday. It was crowded but somehow easy to get a beer and a place to sit, probably due to the nice weather. Lots of running kids was my only complaint.

Tree of Possibility is right up there with world class offerings like VSOJ. Tree of Light was right there too. So good. Been available for months now, too. Wild

Yep, it was absolutely phenomenal, it's crazy how long it's been available.

Big Bear Coffee and Cozy - despite neither of which strictly speaking being a ‘stout’ - satisfy 95% of my dark and roasty jones-ing.

Question on Deerfield location - is there a limit to pours? I checked the FAQ, and it says that it varies. Was planning to hit it Friday night.
    TIA

Their cold brew is taking the majority of my money I think in 2024. Still cheaper than buying out at a shop, and we have some good ones near us. I should probably break the bodum out and make more batches myself. Ah well

Finally a mole stout. My appreciation for these (mexican hot chocolate style) has grown. Thankfully no lactose. Should be a winner for sure

Got one of these on Amazon as well as some cold brew filters. Assuming you use the TH coffee at $20/lb you can do 3 gallons for $30 in beans. Just over a $1.00 per 12 oz.

Tree House just announced they're going to be at Wilco's Solid Sound festival at MASSMoCA this summer. I'm pretty pumped that I'm going to be able to hear/see some of my favorite bands while crushing some Julius.

While the beer offerings at Solid Sound haven't been too shabby in years past, this is certainly very welcome news, especially if it becomes the norm for the fest. I am still somewhat on the fence about attending this year given I'm not super excited about the lineup, but this news doesn't exactly dissuade me.

I've gone a few times and had a great time, but yeah, the beer selection was never incredible. And it's funny, I love the lineup this year, lots of great acts. Isbell, Ratboys, Wednesday, Young Fresh Fellows, Miracle Legion, etc...

My wife and I went in 2022 and that was a terrible lineup. Weakest one I'd been to by far, and I ended up leaving during both of the Wilco headlining sets. Hearing them play a brand new bad (to me) record all the way through was rough, and then on the "greatest hits" set night two they still played about 7 Cruel Country songs. We said we weren't going to buy tickets this year unless the lineup was incredible, and well, for us it is.

Probably best lineup they’ve had to my tastes, though me going depends on what the Wilco gimmick is. I’ve seen them so many times (and almost everything I could possibly dream of seeing them do) that the typical Solid Sound special set experience might be what gets me to see them again.

Was actually bummed to have missed 2022 night 1 after how much I ended up liking Cruel Country, and I say that as someone more down than not on the last 10 years of their output.

Were you there for the covers set? Them opening with The Boys Are Back In Town was killer, as was their cover of Marquee Moon.

Also, if I never hear California Stars ever again it'll be too soon, and I KNOW they're going to do it with Isbell on Friday. You could do dueling solos on Impossible Germany or something, but NO. California Stars it is.
