So went to beer school at my local beer spot that I frequent for Winter Sour Ale. Tonight we had these

DuClaw Sour Me Triple Double Berry, Arpus Pineapple Cherry Strawberry Sour Ale, Toppling Goliath Berry Patch Fandango, Yazoo EtF Octatonic, 450 North Slushy XL Blue Dream and Urban Artifact Gadget.

Not my favorite style however glad to get outside of my comfort zone sometimes.

 

Finishing up the weekend. Another cellar pull. 2017 Karbach Hell Fighter

 

A favorite Ohio brewery. The hot spice has faded after a year but it's still really enjoyable;



while watching Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird, and Reggie Miller talk basketball. I love the mutual respect between these three iconic players and alot of great stories between these guys!

I use the Baby with Rubeaus. I use KBS with Blushing Monk. Both are outstanding

Great fresh, not much of fan once it turns. Becomes a generic German Supermarkt Pils at that point

Lost Forty/Modern Times Lost in Translation Double Hazi IPA

 

Not sure exactly what "fresh" is on this one. This can is dated 5/24/24. I would imagine they give this at least a year best by date. That said, there's still some hop flavor but I also get a mild buttery or oily flavor too. Not sure if that comes with age or if it's just normal for this beer.

 

No good if it is skewing Diacetyl (sp?). The stuff I had in Europe would turn after about 2 months unless chilled & even then might by you another few weeks. It and Budvar just never traveled well IMHO

 

Yeah. Thanks for the info. Wasn't sure if that was a feature or a bug. The place I bought it from is a basically a metal warehouse with no climate control so it gets hot in there in the summer. That combined with the age probably didn't help this beer. Still enjoyable enough but I feel like it could be better. Will hunt for fresher

 

Last beer of the night, old faithful Zombie Dust. Nice to end the night with a refreshing, hoppy beer after a night of sour beers.

 

Spent the day in Lansing visiting family. Had Qurkha Assassin out on my browinlaws back deck in the sunshine. Cheers!
