I drank this beer at last Saturday’s German Bierfest in Philly. I enjoyed that pour. I asked the server (Head Brewer of Yuengling) if I will find this beer at my local Retail Beer Distributor and he shrugged his shoulders and stated there is a limited supply of this brand.

Great packaging. I'll have to keep my eyes out. Honestly, once Yuengling finally became available in the state right next door, I found myself seeking out their other beers Porter, Lord Chesterfield, Oktoberfest etc and I can't remember if I have had the bock.
This will be on the bock list for spring along w/Genesee Bock (Genny Red incognitus)

I'm going to be on the look out for some of this. I love a good bock.

If I can find a single, I'll go. Didn't think much of it the first time around

Well you are in one of the 9 selected states so:

Just so you are aware it is not a Bock as in beers brewed in Germany, it is an American Bock (e.g., similar to Genny Bock). Tasty nonetheless for my palate.

    Cheers!

IMO you need to approach this beer for what it is (see above). A lower ABV dark amber lager with nice drinkability (for me).

    Cheers!

The response is another reason I won’t buy their beer.

    Enjoy

Had a metallic taste that was very off putting

Doesn't look like it will be too widely distributed

If I see it I will buy 1 or 6, but won't go on a search to find it necessarily.

FWIW I did not perceive any metallic in my pour. Tasted like Genny Bock to me; I enjoy drinking Genny Bock. Cheers!

I just picked up a sixer of Troegs Little Nator. It's a very good impression of the bock style.

I haven't had Yuengling Bock, but I'd surmise that Little Nator is a decent alternative for those, like me, who refuse to buy Yuengling anymore because Dick Yuengling is a union buster and Trump lover.

Unless the local (cheap) retailer tells one of his underpaid employees to go get the tool box (literally, a cardboard Miller High Life box full of stuff) and, when it's slow, use the sixpack-maker kit on them new Yuengling Bocks.
"And be careful this time, goddamit!"

They might have been the same recipe (never had the Red that I recall) but a Genesee Bock long pre-dated Genesee Red, dating back the heyday of US seasonal bock beer.

Me too, but I'm not sure Yuengling's version qualifies. Jack's description is pretty apt in my opinion (lower abv. dark amber lager). I don't think it's a particularly flavorful Bock beer, but the lower abv. does make it a pretty drinkable amber IMHO.

I'm outside Narragansett distribution. I remember stumbling onto their "Pilsener" on a rare journey to Trader Joe's several years ago that tasted very good, and was priced right. I tasted many of the bocks in the 70s. I might have had a single Yuengling Bock then, and it was probably pretty good. I'm not going to buy a 12 pack of their current bock, expecting to be disappointed, though. The brands in the 70s with very positive memories were the similar Huber brands, from the dirt cheap returnable quart Hi-Brau to Augsburger. Pabst Bock had some "kick", but wasn't as good as their rare year-round dark draft. Schaefer Bock was drinkable as a mild amber beer after it went on distress sale at 60c a sixpack (happened a few years running)!

They had it on draft at the brewery last year. Not sure if you were able to grab some.

    I'll drink to that! :beers:

And the economical price of Yuengling beers is a definite bonus!!

    Cheers!
