What Beer Are You Drinking Now #4147

Dinner is in the oven, having another NA - Athletic All Out Extra Dark. I won't lie, these NA beers are nowhere near as satisfying as the real deal.

 

1) New Glarus Two Women Lager (5.0%): A Helles Lager from Wisconsin with flavors of pale malts, bread, yeats.
versus
2) Third Space Helles (5.2%): A Helles Lager from Wisconsin with flavors of smooth bread, earthy yeast, rich honey. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Third Space Helles: Wisconsin Helles Battle. First is New Glarus Two Women Lager. A decent Helles. It never really impressed me, but there's nothing inherently wrong with it. Maybe I'll do a battle to Spotted Cow again sometime.
Next is Third Space Helles Lager. Only my second try at this beer. Tons of smooth bread and rich honey flavors. Excellent.

 

Hmm...I am now drinking a Founders Mortal Bloom again and it is very much like the Hazy Hearted. Canned January 30th.

I gave them the same rating.

 

After several hoppy beers it's time for something on the dark side and although the bottle is boring the beer is anything but.

Haven't been in the gym for about a month since i was sick almost 2 weeks and after that was over i blew my shoulder out at work ( not literally, bug it felt like it ) .

King Sue ~ Toppling Goliath


Changes (2021 Alternative Mix) ~ David Bowie

1) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 1/2/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with flavors of orange citrus zest, flower, pineapple and mango skin. Bright and clean.
versus
2) Phase Three DDH Unchecked Imagination (7.8% canned 11/28/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Moteuka and Citra for flavors of orange citrus, tangerine, faint green and floral notes. Clean and dry. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Toppling Goliath King Sue: Citra IPA Battle. Repeat Battle here. First is The King Sue. Drinks excellent as always. Bright, yet smooth. Next is Phase Three with an IPA that's approaching its later days. Citra, but with the addition of Moteuka with some great flavor. Very similar aromas and flavors actually. On the aroma I had them backwards, but then on the flavor it went the other way. In the end I guessed wrong. As they warm, it seems much easier, but hindsight is 20/20. A fun and close beer battle for two great ones.

 

Hell yeah!

Crocus ,1 of the first to come up in Spring err Winter. They are hardy and beautiful bulbs.

 

I've grown to like roast pork and broccoli rabe more than cheesesteaks. Was just at Human Robot, they have a sandwich shop, Poe's, inside the taproom. Their pork and rabe was stellar (I had them hold the long hots), and they have several cheesesteaks that I imagine are great, too.

 

Glad to hear you are back to normal! Shoulder injuries can be a real pain.
