You are correct in your assessment of bourbon.

If it would be easier to post pictures from my phone I would post plenty, believe me as that is my favorite style tied with Belgian Ales.

Prior posts discussing Doppelbocks got me thirsty so I pulled a bottle of Troegs Troegenator out of the fridge and poured it into my Sly Fox Bock Fest Willi Becher glass. I am a real fan of this beer since it is a twofer: a tasty beer at an economical price (10 bucks a six-pack).

    Prost!

Must be like @zid alluded -- just not selling.

Don't see a lot of marketing for Trumer. Too bad because it's such a great beer.

It's completely sold out here despite being sold at bodegas. But yeah, no marketing whatsoever. It is similar to some of the European imports — no marketing, limited supply, wide range of prices. Radeberger Group owns DAB, Jever, Tucher, Krostitzer, and a few others, yet here I can only find Radeberger regularly, but mostly at smaller stores, DAB is somewhat available, then Krostitzer is only sold by Whole Foods, while Jever and Tucher are nowhere to be found.

From Portugal Quinas Original Premium Lager. Lightly sweet. It's good. Cheers!

Gotta be advantageous to do so, I guess? Sprecher in WI, you in Chicago - works in a "Great Lakes" thread, too, right?

Only Sprecher I've seen on the shelves in a couple of decades is their Cherry Cola at Aldis (NA?) .

Looks like Gambrinus also briefly imported Austrian-brewed Trumer - for some reason using the 'dba' of The Arsenal (named after a section of San Antonio) on the labels. At the time of the deal, Trumer had 1% of the Austrian market.[IMG]
Oh, I'm not saying they'd have succeeded where so many other "regional" brands that expanded their distribution footprint into the northeast/mid-Atlantic have failed, just surprised that they didn't combine Shiner & Trumer when they moved into states. (Maybe they just didn't have the capacity at the brewery?) Of course, it was also surprising they didn't brew Pete's at their own breweries, but, again - capacity? IIRC, they initially used Miller (which had taken over some of Stroh's contracts, including BBC) and then F X Matt, before killing the brand.

The Gambrinus Co. portfolio has been shrinking, though still considered the #5 Craft Brewer by the Brewers Association:

Ah, it worked for me. I wonder how the Shiner brand is doing around this region. Only came to NJ in 2011 where they signed with the Molson Coors network, which already was distributing Corona, Yuengling, Sierra Nevada, Heineken, BBC/Samuel Adams, (eventually New Belgium, too, a few years later) etc., They seemed to be doing relatively big promotions early on for Shiner Bock. Alvarez after all knew the "macro" end of the beer market.

I guess I still see some of their flavored stuff and the Bock on the shelves but otherwise don't pay much attention.

I confirm the last batch of Sprecher Dopplebock is a drain pour. some the places I saw it on the shelves earlier ether sold it all or it was pulled.
I have a can in my hand of the bad stuff now.

CORRECTION The Cherry Cola found at Aldis is Summit's. Sprecher Cherry Cola (and Root Beer) I find at Big Lots. Shoulda remembered that the latter is in Sprecher's classic 16 oz. bottle.

Do you see Summit beers out that way? Extremely envious, if so.
