Looks like the goat has been designed in the style of Burlington Beer Co.

You think there was a design brief that said to “cheapen it”?

If I had to guess, I could see them wanting to make the von trapp name more prominent because that’s the name that carries weight and recognition even beyond a beer crowd...not “Kolsh” or “Helles” etc. And I think it succeeds at that. Better font weight hierarchy among info on the can.

I agree. Us beer geeks know what styles they brew. And the general public doesn’t know Vienna from Helles.

If this makes the brand stick out more to the general public and generates more revenue so they brew more beers for us…that’s a win win.

Case in point, as I pointed out earlier I thought a similar color scheme didn’t do geeen flash justice and cheapened the look as well. And this was almost 10 years ago[IMG]

I liked the older labels. So long as they don't fool around with the product inside the can, I'm good, though.

I do like their new design. I didn't mind the older version but it did feel dated. Almost reminds me of when Berkshire Brewing Company rebranded theirs. I think they did a great job, it's not over done but it brings a fresh face to their stellar lagers.

These look good imo, but there’s something about gold top cans that looks specifically macro.

Am I misremembering or is this the second von trap rebrand in the last 5-10 years?

Classic European brands inspired the old design. Now it has joined the ranks of boring seltzer-like cans that are impossible to tell apart. I get that it is supposed to appeal to the younger crowd, but does anyone think they can tell what the logo means without knowing what it was before? Plus the labels are not only unreadable, they are also not accessible.

Berkshire brought back updated versions of their classic label designs for their core lineup. I feel like they definitely pop more than the last rebrand.

Berkshire decided to swing back towards the old labels now. Which I wanted to happen

No one ever likes the new labels of anything.

Ha, when I read this I thought, “Come to think of it, I can’t think of one off the top of my head that was widely praised”.

Most likely because the person who designs the new one is a hired third party with no attachment to it and it’s just a job for money. Often it seems the label isn’t the issue, the product is. But said 3rd party convinces said owner the change will make the product better, with ink. Backing said claim up with some data. But not all.

People usually don't notice or don't care if the rebranding is done well. Sometimes it is noticable and done well, like the last year's Jack's Abby rebranding.

I think a large part of rebrands is to get to you just notice the brand, not like it.

Seeing the new labels on a six-pack of Schwarz at my local store south of Boston alerted me it was fresh, so I grabbed it. The standard offerings were still decorated with the classic labels.

Schmidt of Philadelphia ran at least one commercial promoting new can design with David Brenner showing us a Schmidt can saying "beautiful beer, ugly can".
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/2256746708...3hV4F8NK3dMcT7m5_NgnhGPqYV6AHVSxoChIoQAvD_BwE
He assured us that the new can is better. I think it was.

I didn't find a video of the commercial, which featured the especially ugly 16 oz can..
