Looks like Flat12 finally posted the tap list for the anniversary party and it looks good. Lots of good stuff for growler fills. Now that they have a bottling line I wish they would do some special bottles for events like this. http://flat12.me/blog/slideshow/flat-12-bierwerks-anniversary-winter-cycle-ipa-ii/
wish i could make it....have to work this weekend so I'm out. you guys will have to report back on the highlights....and find out when they are gonna start bottling Walkabout....
Last time I spoke with someone there I asked them about Walkabout. The reason they don't bottle it right now is lack of hops. Please funnel all available galaxy hops to flat12 so this can become a regular fridge staple.
i got the same story from one of their reps at a Kahns tasting a couple months ago too......if that sucker gets bottled I will buy it by the case.....but for now I'm just heavily hitting the Half Cycle
This party was an absolute blast yesterday. The tent they added outside really opened up the space so it wasn't super crowded, and the beer was crazy good. The BA Pinko was killer, and Haggard Jo (BA Jo Brahma) was one of my favorites, as usual. Great time and great people. Cheers to your second anniversary, Flat 12! Can't wait to see what the third year brings!
My beer of the day was the Sazarac rye barrel-aged Big Black Dog 68 rye stout. Cow Tipper was also fun, as was Haggard Jo. I like the fact Rob and Josh are taking chances barrel-aging beers in the 5-7% ABV range. The BA Pinko was good but I wished it had felt a little thicker. The flavor profile was great though. Also appreciated the rotating nitro tap, though only got a couple of those pours while we were there. This party well surpassed my expectations, I tried everything I wanted. A+, will attend next year again.
Great party. Beers were phenomenal. I enjoyed the winter cycle vertical. The Rye Big Black Dog was by far my favorite. I was really happy to hear that it was born from Sazerac barrels as Sazerac is my favorite whiskey. The nitro taps were great. Staff was helpful and in great spirits. No problems getting samples, pints, or growlers. I'm looking forward to another year of enjoying Flat 12 beers.
These guys did a fantastic job, the beers were amazing and it was very well organized. That Cow Tipper was awesome, really wish I would've grabbed a growler of it, the Sazarac Big Black Dog was great too, the Wine Barrel Winter Cycle IIPA was interesting. Even though I was only there for maybe two hours, I had a good time and got to try a lot of great beers, love this brewery!
Props to Flat 12 for all of the innovations. This is one brewery that is trending upwards and should have a great 2013. I can't wait for Walkabout bottles!
