This is a nice West Coast Pilsner from Chapman Crafted Beer and Smog City. Muscat grape must is noticeable.

Not a real fan of session beers but I love that clean label!

 

It's pretty, pretty good. Not the freshest but it held up much better than the atomic torpedo.

1) Phase Three P3 Pils (4.7%): An American Pilsner from Chicago with flavors of lemon citrus, smooth bread malts and yeast. Smooth
versus
2) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Surly Hell Lager: Pale Lager Battle. First is Phase Three P3 Pils. An American Pilsner, but has so much complexity in the flavor here. Lemon citrus, bread and yeast notes. Incredibly smooth. Ranked #9 for an American Pilsner on BeerAdvocate and for good reason. It is excellent.
Next is Surly Hell. One of my fall-time favorite lagers. Very similar in terms of flavors, but packs a bit more floral bitterness. Overall they are very similar and could rank among the best pale lagers in my opinion.

 

Back down below at Liquid Mechanics for a taste of the latest West Coast Cartel IPA collaboration with Cannonball Creek. This series is batting 3 for 3! Another random shot from today......
