Poll: Time spent on BA while actively drinking beer

Interesting topic. I spend a lot of time researching beers on BeerAdvocate on my phone when shopping. But when posting and reading the WBAYDN thread I am usually enjoying the beers I have posted. I would guess most on the WBAYDN tab are doing the same.

 

By number of site hits, I'd probably only be around 10% as I hop on quickly a lot throughout the week to see what is going on, but by time it's closer to 60% I'd estimate as I spend more time, esp. on WBAYDN and NBW, when I'm enjoying something myself. But for the converse, I'm probably on BA about 80 or 90% of the time that I'm drinking beer.

 

I’ll go with 20-30%. I enjoy reading a lot of threads in the morning when I’m not drinking and at night. I do most of my drinking in the afternoon/evening because I make a conscious effort to avoid alcohol consumption before I go to bed.

 

I tend to only be on BA with a beer for NBW. Otherwise, during the week, if I’m having a beer it’s while I’m cooking or eating supper. I’m going 20-30% I guess.

 

I would have to look back more than five years since my time on BA now almost never has a real beer. Mostly I come here now to pretend I'm having a beer, which is tons better than having no beer at all. Rather than a percentage of my time on here, I would venture to guess I was 10 -20% more likely to be drinking a beer while on BA than other times of the day, excluding from consideration Sundays when I always had a beer going for NBS.

 

About 99% of the beers I have are at home. I pour it and take the picture in the kitchen with my phone, upload it to the cloud, go to my recliner, grab my laptop, crop and level the image, review it if necessary, and post it. Then I stick around and surf BA and other sites and watch TV while I take 1-3 hours to drink it, depending on style and octane.

I don't surf BA much when I don't have a beer so 90% of the time I'm drinking one.

 

I would estimate about 90% of the time I spend on BA is while consuming beer.

 

That was a very valiant and virtuous display of the letter “v” but I vow to be victorious in my vigorous venture to best you.

 

If I was drinking beer every time I got on BA, well…

 

Watch out, you don't want to get a ticket for allitering.

 

I'm firmly in the 0-10% camp. If I'm actually drinking the beer, I'm more likely on Untappd. Once it's checked in there, I'll edit and upload the photo and post it here. Then I'll take some notes and add my review later while I'm drinking whiskey.

 

Count me in the camp that pops in regularly throughout the day, but I definitely spend more time here once a beer is in my glass

 

I enjoy hangin' out at our virtual bar, WBAYDN? thread. I enjoy liking other members posts particularly when they attach an image of the lovely brew that they're having. Because I'm posting in or on that thread, I am having beers. I might be logged in to BA for a week before logging out or just needing to restart my computer. It's random. So, like right now , it's 7:55 am. I'm not drinking a beer but in 4 hrs I probably will and I'll cruise around the site enjoying beers, rating & reviewing, revisiting, adding places, and giving people the thumbs up vibe with a like. Everyone has their own reason for being here. Interestingly I don't feel pressured to have beers because I'm here, though I do get excited about acquiring certain beers.

Although it does make me wonder how much drinking @steveh does when posting, haha JK buddy!

I'm just the opposite. I'm in the 0-10 percent crowd, but 90+ percent of my beer drinking is with a meal. My phone is always there, but at my age it's difficult to do three things at once, so eating and drinking usually win out.

 

i agree with this and have the same ritual(s) for beer drinking almost entirely.

i will drink a beer while maxing out in the living room on a friday or saturday in the pm if i'm feeling relaxed and carefree.

all of this applies to beers that i enjoy for taste and for the unique experience of drinking craft beer.

i'll drink more ordinary beers in traditional social settings or in the pool when the weather allows.
