They announced it was going to be one of the included beers back in the fall.

    The demographic is me.

I see it sitting there in the archive sale... Not sure I need more... But also pretty confident it will be there awhile if I change my mind.

I don't know if I was just better prepared for it... But felt a little less syrupy this time.

I liked it once I put a shot of good tequila in it. My wife's suggestion.

Mother Floater is good... I don't love it.

The spicing is great. It nails the root beer vibe in a good way. But in a twist of irony, this is not a very sweet Bruery beer, and I think that makes the spices express very differently than in an actual root beer. Not that I want a pure soda clone... no L'deraroot thanks.

The Monster base is great otherwise. Very creamy, which is a good choice for this. I had been thinking this beer had lactose... but it does not... which is good.

That said... when I drink the second half of the bottle I just might consider taking the label's suggestion of adding a scoop of vanilla... I haven't ruled it out.

I just received my first shipment and everything is great. Can someone tell me why they sent 10 random labels in the shipment?

If I had to guess, it’s because they have many unused rolls left over sitting on a shelf in a warehouse and wanted to get rid of them.

They started doing this a few months ago. It's great! Like getting a pack of baseball cards.

Some people collect the labels because the design is well done. I've got a big collage of them on a wall in my garage.

This is not typical behavior of course, and you'd be just fine ignoring them:wink:

Years ago, while visiting Stone, I had a beer float (smoked porter with vanilla) and it was pretty tasty. I've had a couple since then that were fine.

I tried a small scoop of vanilla with maybe a half ounce of Mother Floater and... it was not good.

Now, to be fair, it was the last bit of ice cream from the bottom of the tub, and it had been open in the freezer for quite awhile (though still a few months from expiration date). However, I think it curdled, and I assume something in the beer is to blame for that. Glad I made a very petite serving; I have enjoyed the remaining 11.5 ounces in a glass by itself.

Poached Fig is a delight. It's got five years on it now and not a whiff of oxidation or staleness. Very smooth, great creamy texture, nice fig flavor.

Kern River makes a beer float with their Class V stout that's great. I tried it when I got home with some other stout, and it was terrible. I can say that French Vanilla ice cream was the wrong flavor. Not sure what in the beer makes it good vs bad, but there is definitely a specific mix of flavors that works vs doesn't.

Interesting! I wonder how much depends on the beer vs the ice cream used?

Is the April preview today? I see the April beers on Untappd. How do they work normally? All day or certain hours?
