    Good morning advocates.

Drinking La Goudale again, leftover from the six pack I bought yesterday.

    Urban South Holy Roller IPA

Hazy light gold color with medium white cap. Aroma of rich resiny hops with a touch of grapefruit.

Taste on entry is solid hop flavors with an underpinning of malt. The malt is not assertive here, or even noticable as a separate flavor, rather a structure on which the hops rest. The hops are sharp without bitterness, clean yet rich and finish with a touch of grapefruit in the aftertaste.

Another hazy, juicy IPA that races around the course without any stumbles.

Thank you for the kickoff @Shanex , and nice as always to see you here @Squire ! Lots of new beers recently, are you able to buy singles, or are they from variety packs or 4/6 packs?

Believe this can was from a nice we have too much Deep Woods beer sale at the brewery December 2020. Enjoying after a nice walk to the bakery and grocery store.

Catch up from yesterday...went to see Tommy Orange at a Houston Inprint event. His new novel is out, Wandering Starts. The event was just north of Rice University, which means some beers at Under the Volcano.

A beautiful pour of Chimay White, while I start his new book.

Saint Arnold Amber next, and steak night...

Doing my own wandering around the area, the so called North Blvd Park, which is a location for several Larry McMurtry books (All My Friends Are Going to Be Strangers, Some Can Whistle, etc.)

Then on over to the Inprint event with Tommy Orange.

It is going to be a gorgeous day, so once I'm off work, it will be out in the courtyard with some beers and continuing on with my book :sunglasses:

Combination of the three, actually. My driver and I pick a town within easy driving distance, do some reserch on shops and restaurants, then away we go. I hit the beer stores, she the antique shops, we have lunch at a new to us restaurant, then it's home again.

Only problem I have now is refrigerator space

It's 3 mile walk $2 pints Tuesday for me! Be back later with beers. For now, the pork butt has been dry rubbed and in the slow cooker and happened to find Bell's Hazy Hearted for $5.01 for the 6 pack. Lucky me! Cheers!

Just got back from dropping my grandson off for testing, some standardized thing that New Mexican schoolkids get to take. He didn't seem too enthused.

I understand why he feels that way. They have about a million different tests these days. They’re all these weird computerized tests. SBAC, ACT Aspire, iReady, MAPS, (all stupid names) etc. A lot of the schools here don’t even use Scantron tests anymore.

As these are nationalized tests, the questions rarely align with what the students have been taught. The teachers actually tell the kids that they should guess the answers on about half of the questions!

Sorry for the mini-rant, this government mandated bullshit just pisses me off. Especially when literacy rates are plummeting.

That’s an excellent beer you have! Cheers :beers:

    Happy Tuesday BAs

Rainy and breezy start to the day here earlier - Emma and I did our usual walk a little later than usual - then a stop at the local bottle shop - picked up this 4 pk - it was marked $14.99, but the dude rang it at $7.99 - who am I to argue?
    Damn tasty!

As someone who works in education, I couldn’t agree more. True words right here. It’s all very frustrating. All involved, both students and staff, don’t want to do it and see no need for it. I understand the thought process behind it, but it simply doesn’t give an accurate measurement of what kids know.

New Oberpfaltz Our Lady Maibock. First time trying this one. It delivers as expected. Like a Helles on steroids. Lightly toasted white bread and floral and herbal hops. Slight sweetness leads into a dry, clean, and slightly bitter finish.
