Just as good as ever. Kinda cool that I have cans of this and Ruination at the same time.

Saw this in an email from Stone the other day as well.

Stone needs to quietly fade away.
Everything they originally stood for is long gone.

    They’re both has-beens.
Name any style from them you like and I can either recommend or send you a superior alternative.

    Stone :
    Russian Imperial Stout
    SSR
    Double Bastard
    Arrogant Bastard
    Mikhail
    Fyodor

I'm probably just an aware of whatever you'd suggest but I'm curious.

    Appreciate the prompt reply.
Pretty much see examples of traditional RIS and strong ale. Let me sober up and reply tomorrow so I can give a thoughtful response

I've drowned in plenty RIS and nothing really compares to IRS from Stone...especially at a Local level .
Bravery - The Shroud is one but they don't distro. Old Rasputin and Speedway scratch the itch as everyone knows

And I've had a shitload of strong ales but none are anywhere near Arrogant Bastard in my opinion.

that’s one of the only beers I’ve asked the bartender if I couldn’t get something else. It tasted like salmon to me. I’ve only recently started to like smoked beer. I always get a ham water taste.

I got mine in the south suburbs of Cleveland. I also had a friend grab some in Mt. Vernon the same day.

Last time it was released I got a few six packs. They were $14.99 which in today’s market is a deal.

Both of them seem to keep the good stuff out of distribution. Although people are getting this in Ohio so maybe I'll see it up here.
Damn, that's really cheap for stone

I think I’m just gonna apologize, admit I was drinking too much, and move on with this one.
There are many other strong ales and imperial stouts out there, but if you prefer Stone then keep drinking what you like. I haven’t had them in 10+ years, so can’t fairly compare. Cheers.

    :stuck_out_tongue:

I'll go see you in Santa Cruz and drown in that new place they opened that for sure will sell syrupy BWs and Stouts

Honestly Private Press would be a perfect example of someone that brewed similar to Stone then changed the styles over the years.
If you ever come up I could definitely hook you up, but understandly bottles are pretty expensive to send down.

Fresh Rauchbier shouldn't be meaty. Think more campfire than ham.

I never had it during its original run, but I did try the re-release they did in 2020. It was good but honestly I wasn't super impressed with it. That being said, I'm a sucker for Black IPAs so I'll probably grab a few on the off chance I actually see this near me

The OG OG West Coast barleywine. I remember they did a few variants towards the end of the run. I loved that stuff.

I never saw Ruination locally. A Stone beer finder search shows no SSR nearby.
