I didn't see this mentioned yet. MBC to release 8.5% DIPA "Breakfast" on April 6th brewery only. As luck would have it, we are going to a baby shower that day 30 minutes away. Stop has been added.
MBC is starting sales at 1000. They said expect to sell out "quickly". I asked what that meant. They said wouldn't be surprised by 1100 or 1200. Guess I'll just be enjoying the baby shower. Ugh.
Yeah, honestly it’s kind of lame to make it so limited when they have plenty of ability to make a larger amount. Or charge the price they do for bottles.
I am stating the obvious, but this would have had more thematic integrity with the series if they made it 5ish%. Their choice to go with 8.5 makes it look like they went in a more commercial direction instead of a logical one. Give them a call when you can head down there and see if it’s still on tap. Are they really gonna kick the kegs before noon? They might be reluctant to pick up the phone that day though. There’s also a chance they might be overestimating the demand for bottles.
I hope they brew this again over the summer while I'm there. MBC can do what ever they want, and get away with it, given the quality and consistency of their product. Which is more than I can say for any of the Hazy factories out there.
I thought about going for a draft but MBC was North of where we were and we were headed South. And we stayed longer than expected at the shower, quite an interesting dive bar named Lenny's. So we stopped in Biddeford at Sacred Profane. Very good.
