1) Drekker Doomsday Device (8.3% canned 3/26/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Mosaic for flavors of dank orange, tropical berries, blueberries, mango juice.
versus
2) Hop Butcher Lord Octopus (7.5% canned 1/30/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic for flavors of tropical berries, blueberries, cotton candy, light grassy, floral tones. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Happy Saturday BeerAdvocates and time for a Mosaic Hop showdown: Doomsday Device vs. Lord Octopus
First is Drekker Doomsday Device, brand new release and canned 10 days ago. All Mosaic. Getting dank orange, tropical berries, with some papaya and mango juice. Tropical and juicy.
Next is Hop Butcher Lord Octopus. Again all Mosaic. Simliar tropical berry flavors, but it is slightly brighter with some grassy and floral tones.
Winner: Hop Butcher. I really like both of these Mosaic IPAs. I like the bright grassy, floral tones in Hop Butcher that brightens in a bit. Both breweries both make great beer but also some killer names and can art. This was a fun comparison and beer battle.

 

Taking a little break from cleaning out the garage on this beautiful sunny Spring day. After Slice, a Mexican Style Lager with Limes from Central Waters. Cheers, BAs!

Ale or lager, I’ve got a soft spot for a beer brewed with rye malt. Roggenbbier is a ‘style’ I’ve never had before. If this one from OEC is any indication I look forward to trying others.
