Dungeness are the best crabs I ever had. So much meatier (by a mile) than the blue crabs I get from the Chesapeake bay.

I like your style. Working solo never prevents me from getting a job done once I set my mind to it. Great job.

...I first had this on tap at the Wynkoop Brewery in Denver in October, 2023...my favorite local bee emporium got four cases this week -- one of this plus three other types of beer...I'm glad to be able to enjoy this particular one again...

I can send you the recipe. The key to me is to use fresh whole ground spices. It just fills the whole house with wonderful smells.

Finally, at my house n WV and unpacked. Settling in for the evening with a beer in the fridge leftover from Christmas - Fat Head’s “Imperial Head Hunter”:

Postimages is down, so picture a pale amber pour in my SAPP with tight white head, excellent cap retention and soapy lace. Excellent clarity. A WC beauty dialed up to 9.5% abv.

Canned 11/2/23. Poured at fridge temp. Looks and smells great. Less bitter than when fresh, but not a malt bomb. At 5 months old drinking pretty well!

Filling the fridge with beers from my 2 travel Yetis, for next week’s bottle share, and tomorrow’s travel :sunglasses:

I’ll probably drink some beers and wait up for my kid brother to get off work from the restaurant. Cheers from a somewhat chilly S. Charleston, WV!

I’m be of my fondest memories was during college going to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and eating a mountain of blue crabs with a bunch of beer. Still, I agree that Dungeness are better in terms of pure eating.

    Gnarly Barley Jucifer NEIPA

Light golden color with medium white cap and lacing. Aroma is primarily juicy hops with a fresh scent.

Taste is hop forward with a sharp hop entry followed by a richer, deeper juicy hop flavor. I can feel malt in the texture but don't really taste much in the way of malt or even grain for that matter. It is clean, simple, refreshing and goes down well.

Overall it's a decent representative of the NEIPA style.

Blue crabs are definitely tasty but you burn more calories than you get from the “meat” you get from picking them. Unless, of course, you buy a can of the picked portion.

That said, you cannot beat Maryland crab cakes.
