    Orange Amber gold color with small white cap and little lacing.

    Aroma of sharp, bitter, piney/citrusy hops with an emphasis on the citrus.

    Taste on entry is delicious hop icing on a sweet malt cake. Yes, this stuff is good. Hops are sharply refreshing and redolent of citrus zest. Malt is rich, plentiful and could stand alone in other beer styles. The thing that strikes me most is balance from beginning to finish which is clean, lasting and refreshing.

    Full texture with balancing carbonation.

    The overall impression is great balance matched with satisfying flavors.

    A cellar pull. Bottled 8/1/23. Poured at 51°. Bourbon coffee chocolate.

    Grey skies, nice 66°, rain forecast for the entire day…perfect for staying home, boxing up and storing the Christmas decorations (and some beer drinking).

    Productive day so far around the old homestead…coffee break with another cellar pull…I snagged this beer out of the to-go cooler at Avery Brewing Co., Boulder CO’s taproom in May of 2023 - Mephistopheles’ Stout, Batch No. 11, October 2015:

    Poured at 52°. Strong oaky nose with boozy (17.1%) exhale. Bitter oaky alcohol bite; bittersweet dark chocolate; bitter roasted coffee beans; no perceived oxidation. Full face flushing warmth. I gave this beer a 4.25 back in 2017. Same overall score today. Love the booze yet too bitter/oaky for my delicate palette :astonished: Held up well at 8 1/2 years out. If I ever see it again (unlikely), I’ll buy it!

    Cheers brothers and sisters of the Now…after I finish this beer, a nap may be on the horizon!
